泉州天后宮是媽祖信仰中最重要的廟宇之一，但對於非信眾來說這裡的參觀價值就沒那麼高了。 明萬曆《泉州府志 · 卷二十四 雜志》記載“天妃宫在郡城德濟門內，神本姓林，世居莆陽之湄洲嶼，父林愿，天妃其第六女也，生有祥光異香，長能乘席渡海，常乘雲游島嶼，人呼龍女。宋雍熙四年九月二十九日昇化，後人見朱衣飛行水上，天聖間，立廟莆之西山，賜額曰順濟。泉州建宮自宋慶元間里人徐世昌始，時羅城尚在鎮南橋內，而是宮適臨浯浦之上，當筍江巽水二流之匯，有禱轍應。今德濟門當其陽矣。永樂五年使西洋太監鄭和奏令福建守鎮官重新拓之，而宮宇益崇。” 從民國時期開始，天后宮曾長達5，60年被挪作泉州晦鳴中學（今泉州七中）校舍用，就連最重要的媽祖像也在文革中被破壞了，過上了好長一段時間的有廟無神的日子，今天我們參觀遊覽的泉州天后宮大部分都是在現代由台灣信眾/分靈廟捐資重建的。它的輝煌歷史史詩般的過去我們都看不見了。

泉州天后宮位於福建泉州市鯉城區南門天后路，主祀媽祖女神。

泉州天后宮始建於宋慶元二年（1196年），初名「順濟廟」。明永樂五年（1407年），鄭和奏請重修順濟廟，永樂十三年（1415年）再次重修，並更名「天妃宮」。清康熙二十四年（1685年），感念媽祖有助清兵攻取台灣，更廟名為「天后宮」。

泉州天后宮坐北朝南，占地1.8畝，是典型的閩南建築風格。中軸線上為照壁、山門、正殿、寢殿、梳妝樓等主體建築，中軸兩側分布著東西闕（鐘鼓樓）、東西廊、東西軒、涼亭、齋館等建築。其中寢殿、東廊和涼亭為明代建築，正殿、石刻為清代物件，山門於1990年重修。

正殿面闊五間24.6米，進深五間23米，為重檐歇山頂，屋脊裝飾華麗。寢殿面闊七間35.1米，進深五間19.8米，單檐懸山頂。

泉州天后宮是海內外建築規格最高，年代最早的媽祖廟之一，台灣和東南亞的許多媽祖廟都是從這裡分靈的，有溫陵天后祖廟之稱。它也是中國大陸媽祖廟中第一...
