A beautiful private neighbourhood home to many modern and historical Lingnan buildings and temples with plenty of photo opportunities.
The most popular must-take photo areas are the Chinatown staircase and floral China girl wall that are hard to miss in the main area, as well as the view of the lake through the small window peepholes on the bridge that crosses the lake park. Be sure to climb the tower on the very north end of the park.
Somewhat commercialized for the sake of tourism, and some facilities are showing slight yet noticeable neglect, leading them to being repurposed or sealed off.
Highly expensive admission at 60 CNY, which apparently hasn’t changed in years. Open all week until the ticket window closes at 5 PM, although you can stay until 6 PM. ID is required. Only the main walking paths are accessible; almost all of the historical buildings have doorway blocks.
Do NOT come on Mondays, as there are no performances held on that weekday! You will miss out on half of the meaningful experience there. (Unless you specifically want a quiet, low traffic experience.) Not sure why tickets aren’t discounted specifically for this weekday.
To save some money, consider taking the Metro to Higher Education Mega Center South Station and then taking a short walk...

Can get food here too - some good restaurants and fast food joints - I got a lovely black burger - tasty, but be careful some of the stalls can over charge - we were horribly overcharged for some ice cream!
The area showcases what life was like in ancient times, but also highlights some general Chinese culture - both modern and old - like Kung Fu, art, calligraphy, the Mao, and also some Buddhist shrines. All a bit of a mish mash and who knows how authentic it all is - but for the day we had there we thoroughly enjoyed...
