Rare Bird Yard in Hangzhou Zoo is a typical southern China courtyard with flowing river, small bridges and old vines. It is where 10 species of rare birds can be found. Aside from swinhoes, great hornbills, golden pheasants, toucans, and scarlet macaws, mandarin ducks can also be seen swimming in the pool. Taking a seat at the corridor makes one feels like being inside a Chinese classical painting.

To get to the Panda House, you need to go by the Monkey Hill, where more than 30 macaques live. They are a big family leading by an adult male. In order to enrich their life, many facilities were set up for them to play.

Located at the highest point of Hangzhou Zoo, Tiger Hill is being inhabited by Siberian tigers and Panthera tigris corbetti. There is a big field for the tigers to roam around and visitors will have a rather difficult time to have a glimpse of them due to the surrounding vegetation.

The Reptile House of Hangzhou Zoo is hidden in a clump of bushes. It consists two sections connected by an exhibition corridor. More than 30 species of snakes are found here, from the common grass snakes to the daunting vipers. Yangtze alligators, hawksbill turtles, and goannas are also bred here in their own enclosures. Every enclosure is decorated with driftwood, vines and stones to create a natural environment.

The Panda House is most popular in Hangzhou Zoo, and two giant pandas and some lively lesser pandas are being kept. The two giant pandas come from Chengdu, the city famous as the hometwon of those cute animals. As we all know, the giant panda is the Chinese national treasure, also a sign of China. The adorable fluffy animals always bring people laughter and happiness.

Hangzhou Zoo is a forest-style animal kingdom to the south of the West Lake. Covering an area of 20 hectares (50 acres), there are more than 20 venues inhabited by over 2,000 rare animals of 200 different species, including giant pandas, golden monkeys, gibbons, South China tigers, chimpanzees, Asian elephants, and red-crowned cranes. The zoo was built like traditional Chinese courtyards with white walls and black tiles. Exquisite pavilions, distinctive rockeries, and clear ponds are dotted throughout the zoo.

This destination is truly phenomenal and an awesome place to visit, renowned not only among locals in China but also attracting visitors from other provinces and foreign tourists. It boasts a diverse array of animals, including elephants, cheetahs, lions, giraffes, zebras, and monkeys, making it a must-see for wildlife enthusiasts. One of the highlights of the visit is the spectacular dolphin show, which entertains and captivates audiences of all ages. However, what truly sets this place apart is its special attraction: the giant panda. These beloved creatures draw many visitors who are eager to observe their playful antics and unique behaviors. It’s important for foreign tourists to remember to bring their passports, as these are required to purchase tickets for entry. This ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone, allowing visitors to immerse themselves fully in the wonders of this incredible venue. Whether you’re an animal lover or simply looking for a memorable outing, this location offers a remarkable blend of entertainment and education, making it a perfect spot for family outings or solo adventures alike. Sick animals, depressed, sad, poorly treated, dirty, bear had his mouth foamed, the monkey had his eye buckled and no fur, the cages are tiny for the tiger, the leopard and they walk from side to side, totally neurotic, the wolf had thin legs and a look of despair, a place of horror and sadness. Without any respect to animals! China has wonderful places, but definitely this zoo is a shame!!...

Nice zoo with plenty of animals: pandas, lions, tigers, bears, panthers, leopards, cobras, sea turtles, and way more. Takes a good 3 hours to cover everywhere. There are lots of snacks and food for sale as well. Great place to bring children. Would recommend!
