At low season, the thousand year-old Huangyao ancient city stands quiet and relaxed in the provincial towns of Guangxi Province. The city is well-restored, providing tourists with myriad choices in heritage learning, coffee drinking, amazing scenery and plenty of local good food. The specialty of Huangyao is its fermented black bean, so be sure to get a steamed sparerib or fish dish at the restaurants. I enjoyed my dinner with river and mountain views, and was pleasantly surprised by the fireworks. The city exhibits an incredible sense of hospitality to its visitors. Read moreGreat place to visit. An ancient town that is nearly 1000 years old. Well signposted for tourists, follow the red lanterns. Costs 60 Yuen to enter, free after 18:00.
Spend the day here wandering about. It's an old town so don't expect loads of modernisation in the town.
Great for photography and drawing if you're artistically inclined.
Try Yu Ni Caf Fe (Uni Cafe), it's not here on Google Maps.
English is limited so practise your Mandarin! People do speak some English but it is sporadic.

Place: There's quite a scenic and serene atmosphere, if you can look past the people trying to peddle you goods. The streets are photoworthy, goods are a-plenty (you're able to bargain if you'd like to) though it's quite stranded and you'd have to get out of your way to visit it; let's be fair, you're probably on a tour if you're reading this anyways.
Not too bad of a place to visit, would go again for the adorable cat that we met...
