Hong Kong is a special place, and it can be difficult to put into words what makes it feel so special. One of its great aspects is the pristine and varied nature on offer. The most recent adventure was ‘suicide cliff’ at Kowloon Peak. Now this is not a very nice name for an area, but when you get there you will see that although unpleasant, its most certainly an apt name.
Walking on mud trails, and through the fog made me feel like I was back in my home country of Wales, a real treat! It was a bit slippery and wet, but that added to the fun, and at time the grass was up to my shoulders or higher.
Of course with such great views on offer, and with the cliff dangling so close to your feet, pictures are an absolute must! And boy did we take some pictures. Group ones, individual ones, serious ones, funny ones, pretty much all types. And as you’re standing above the panorama, clouds whirling around, gazing at the urban jungle below you, you really do feel a rush of exhilaration and adrenaline that makes you feel alive. It was truly a marvel that will always be remembered.
The night time views especially are quite extraordinary. Never seen anything like it to be honest. Words can't describe. If you're in Hong Kong it's an...
Read moreKowloon Peak Viewing Point(538 M) , from Fei Ngor Shan Rd to it then down to Tze Wan Shan Road This route was 8 Km which was taken on 18th Nov,2020. It entailed walking up and down slope for about an elevation of 350M each way reaching the height of 538 M at the Mid-point of the trail ,i.e. The Viewing Point. It took a slow and leisurely walking time of about 5 hours. The wide and paved road was safe and easy with very beautiful views on the eastern portion of the Kowloon Peninsula as illustrated by the pictures. So were the views of Sai Kung and Tai Po districts. It is a good walk for adults and one can break the walk from Wilson Trail Sec 4, (which is the downward way) at about one Km away from the Viewing Point, by making a sharp left turn ,to coming down from Jat’s Incline ending at the Good Hope Primary School. The slope was quite steep and this detour will take about the same length of about 8Km as the original trail.

But that's where the charm ends. Big cars hog the narrow winding road in an effort to find parking by the roadside, apparently because some people can't walk!

Was able to get an Uber going up there, but the return was quite a hard lesson in getting a cab. Ideal for those with cars, but not impossible without one.
If only the govt does something to regulate vehicular traffic and the garbage disposal. Perhaps I would make another trip on a weekday to see if the experience...
