The Little Hawaii Trail is a roughly 2.5 km, point-to-point trail linking the Po Lam Village at Tseung Kwan O (southeast) to Clear Water Bay Road (northwest). The trail winds through mature forest with plenty of shade and near a stream with waterfall and cascades you can see along the way.
If you hike north from Po Lam, the trail is a gradual ascend partly along a nicely maintained stone path as well as paved section as you approach Clear Water Bay Road. If you prefer an easier day out, hike southward which is a slow and steady descend the entire way, an easier way to go if you have little ones with you.
If you hike from Po Lam, you can use the MTR Station there as a starting point. Make your way north and west through the village until you find the trailhead. See maps such as the Hiking Trail HK mobile app. or google maps to find your way. At the end of the trail at Clear Water Bay, you can take any of the buses headed west towards Diamond Hill. You can exit at the Choi Hung or Diamond Hill MTR Stations.
Making your way up the mountainside, you will encounter a trail intersection. Take the westward route for about 100 metres. There you will find a nice waterfall cascade called the Lin Yuen Terrace Falls, which you can walk up and see up close. It is easy to find but follow the sound of the falls if you are unsure.
Return from the direction you came from until you reach the same intersection. Just walk up the stone path from there. Eventually you will encounter a stream and the top of another falls. There is a small bridge you cross before walking along the stream and various pools. Afterwards, just walk up a paved trail all the way to Clear Water Bay Road.
The total hike time is around 60 minutes between the Po Lam MTR Station and Clear Water Bay. Allow more time for stops and to take pictures...
Read moreBeautifully lush and a pleasant walk where the hubbub of traffic never totally disappears.
Walk from Clearwater Bay Road, follow Wilson Trail (reverse) and there's an easy to miss signpost to Little Hawaii.
A ten-minute walk and you'll arrive at a bridge over a rocky stream. A little way beyond is a muddy path on the right leading down to the waterfall. Take extreme care as the rocks may be slippery.
Good photo and chill out opportunity.
Go back up and carry on down the concrete path. You'll eventually reach a junction. Straight on is an easy downhill path to Po Lam. Turn left and it's a trail with steps that again comes out at Po Lam.
This is an easy forest walk. Needs better...
Read moreThe name should be named “you will fall” instead of “little Hawaii falls” I went there 2 years ago and there were quite a lot of people. The rocks there are very slippery and you are guaranteed to fall if you step on the rocks. I tried to do a dangerous stunt (as shown in the photo) I nearly fell. Luckily, there was a brave person that rescued me from death. I also saw 4 other unlucky people (ages 6-58) fall into the river and got physically and mentally hurt. I strongly suggest you not going near the rocks without safety gear or a trusted person that...
