This is the highest peak in the Ma On Shan Country Park at 702 metres above sea level, overlooking the town of Ma On Shan and Tolo Harbour. It is one of the most dramatic peaks in Hong Kong as well as a challenging and rewarding hike.
You can approach Ma On Shan Peak most conveniently from the MacLehose Stage 4 trailhead along Sai Sha Road. Other popular routes start from Sai Kung, coming up along Ngong Ping and/or Pyramid Hill or be starting in the southwest, taking in the hunchbacks, a delightful ridge line and smaller series of peaks before approaching Ma On Shan peak.
The trails in Ma On Shan Country Park are easy to follow and you'll find plenty of other hikers making the trek. Much of the trail is exposed so be ready with hat and plenty of sunscreen if sunny. Bring sufficient water and snacks as well as there are no facilities after you leave the starting points.
Note: A really nice route is to take in the earlier mentioned Hunchbacks before or after hiking up Ma On Shan Peak. The views from each smaller peak is very impressive and the trail is fun to hike, lots of good and varied vegetation along the way and plenty of stops to take in the surrounding views in...

The hike certainly has breath-taking views but is not recommended from non-experienced/amateur hikers. The hike requires basic rock scrambling and rock climbing knowledge. The ridge was spectacular. 10/10 recommended for experienced hikers and...

I recommend wearing comfortable hiking shoes and taking plenty of water and a hat as much of the trails are exposed and it's easy to linger looking at the views longer than...
