Miu Fat (Miaohoji) Temple consists of two distinct and contrasting buildings. Standing in front of the temple gate, you will see the three-story Hall of Ten Thousand Buddhas: two giant golden dragons hovering on the gorgeous red exterior wall, as well as a pair of stone elephants and a pair of lions guarding the entrance. When you step into the Mahavira Hall inside, you will see three huge golden Buddha statues of Sakyamuni and countless Buddha statues decorated on the walls. The 21st-century Myohoji complex sits nearby, constructed of glass and concrete in stark contrast to the traditional Buddhist shrine next door. At the top of the building is a magnificent glass hall, shaped like a crystal lotus, which offers a panoramic view of Tuen Mun. Miu Fat Temple is a Buddhist monastery located in Lam Tei, Tuen Mun District, Hong Kong. Based on the principle of practising mercy, it has been actively organizing activities to promote Buddhism as well as education, culture, charity and welfare for years. The Miu Fat Buddhist Monastery was first constructed in 1950. Over the following two decades came the construction of the 3-storey Ten Thousand Buddhas Hall. It took six years to complete, with its consecration ceremony held in May 1980. A ceremony marking the completion of the 45-metre high and 7-storey main complex was held in mid-March 2010. The Mahavira Hall, located on the top storey of the Ten Thousand Buddhas Hall, has a floor height of about 20 metres. In the middle of the Hall, there are three gold-plated statues of the Buddha Sakyamuni, each of them is about 5-metre tall. Its interior walls are adorned with over 10 thousands of Buddha reliefs and a number of murals featuring a blend of Sino-Thai cultures. The monastery can be accessed via the LRT through Lam Tei stop. Three bus routes also serve the monastery that being Routes 53, 63X and 68A.

The Miu Fat Buddhist Monastery is located just north of Lam Tei Village in the Tuen Mun District. It is off Castle Peak Road and accessible by Light Rail (610, 614, 615 and 751) which stop at Lam Tei Village. What you find here are two main halls, one traditional and one modern. There is a much taller, seven-storey concrete and glass building of modern architecture that is dominates the skyline. It was built in 1999 and is younger than the three-story tall Ten Thousand Buddha Hall with the deep red coloured and flamboyantly decorated facade featuring two elegant dragons coiling around two tall pillars. The building is fronted by guardian lions, stone elephants, tall incense burner as well as grotto and garden area. This more traditional Buddhist monastery has a delightful interior as well. As you enter, make your way up the staircase to the third floor to the Mahavira Hall, which is ornately decorated with traditional shrine with three giant Buddha statues, walls covered with thousands of images of Buddha. You'll also see a giant hanging drum, bell as well 20-metre tall ceiling beautifully painted with mural scenes.

Interesting mix of old and new. The new temple is impressive in its own way, interesting architecture but pales alongside the existing old style temple. If the new temple was a standalone place it would be more impressive. The old temple is very impressive. Traditional style, impressive painted ceilings, lots of statues. Shame pictures of the inside aren't allowed but the place is well worth a visit.

Deciding to stop texting a guy, especially after months of correspondence, feels like a big loss. You started things off on the right foot. You enjoyed chatting. But along the way, something changed. Conversations became shorter. He seemed less enthused. Maybe he became distracted, or just bored. Now you’re faced with the question of, when should I give up? You do have that option. The option to start a new conversation, or share a funny joke or story, and get him involved again… Or you can just bow out and leave the chatroom forever. And usually, it is forever, because most guys that are bored or tired of a text conversation, won’t come crawling back. So the question is, what are some situations that would merit a full stop? When do you know when it’s officially time to give up? I think you’ll agree the following situations are a red flag, a sign from above, or whatever you want to call it. This is “IT” - the moment where you know you have to say goodbye... Click here to learn more Talk soon, Matthew Coast P.S. When do you stop texting him? Click here to learn more
