There are several impressive beaches at Tai Long Bay in the Sai Kung East Country Park coastal area, including the Sai Wan Beach. These are amongst the most beautiful and isolated beaches you will find in Hong Kong.

You'll need to allow some time to simply reach the beaches. Once you do you will rewarded with long stretches of smooth white sand, minimal rubbish and far fewer people than you will encounter at the beaches within reach of normal public transportation closer to the city. The water is clean and clear, makes for good surfing, swimming or other beach related activities with friends.

The most convenient to reach is Sai Wan Beach where you will also find a small village, lagoon area, organic farming, public toilets and convenient shop for light snacks and drinks and a couple of beach cafes. There is a camping area with BBQ pits here as well for those who want to hike in and stay overnight.

Note: The easiest way to Sai Wan Beach by foot is 2.2 km hike from Sai Wan Pavilion. There is a public bus (29R) that makes this journey from Sai Kung Village. Otherwise, you will pass through the beach as part of Stage 2 of the MacLehose Trail. It is 6.6 km from the trailhead at the High Island Reservoir East Dam. Boat rides can be arranged as well directly to/from Sai...

Sai Kung is regarded as the backyard of Hong Kong and it does live up to its fame. Amongst other sites, Sai Wan is the most accessible one. Take a mini-bus at the Sai Kung town centre, around 25 min walk then you arrive at Sai Wan Beach. It's very very very clear, spectacular scenery, and you see plenty of maritime lives in the sea, fish, crab, slug, sea cucumber, you name it. There are small restaurants there you can enjoy some fast food with the great sea view. Another 3 hour walk along the nicely built path you arrive at the Yellow Stone Pier where you take bus back to the town. It's a lovely...

Carefull with arranging boatride back to sai kung pier. People at the restaurant want to take advantage of tourist. We arranged a boat ride back to sai kung pier for 2000hkd. It was agreed upon 2000hkd for the whole boat. Make sure you verbally agree it’s for the whole boat and arrange only with the boat people itself. The people at the restaurant tried to scam and wanted to pocket more them self. They tried to say the 2000hkd is for only our group and the other group of tourist couldn’t join us and had to pay extra 188 per person. Very sad hong kong has these...

A hidden gem of HK where the sand is soft and the water is clear. A hike to this beach is totally worth the effort. Do not miss out the tofu dessert (豆腐花) on your way there. It's super soothing in the hot weather. You can do various watersports or just simply relax and enjoy the view in one of the restaurants. Taking the speedboat from the beach back to Sai Kung pier costs $80 and takes 20-30min. The sea can be quite rough though and it's really fast. Do hold on to the rail.
