Seeing is believing when it comes to getting up close to reindeer. On June 21, we visited the Aoluguya Evenki Tribe (敖鲁古雅鄂温克族). This small indigenous community is one of the three Evenki groups in China and is especially remarkable for preserving their traditional reindeer-herding way of life — something incredibly rare and fascinating in modern times.
We were fortunate enough to catch one of their cultural performances during our visit. Watching the show was truly eye-opening, especially for those of us used to city life, where such rich traditions feel worlds away. The performance took place under a shaded area, making it more comfortable to stroll along the forested pathways despite the summer heat.
