The Yangzi River - starts at the tibetian plateau and terminates in the east china sea. Draining from Sichuan, the Sichuan Basin in the West, through the Middle Yangzi, down to the rich and riverine Lower Yangzi Region. It is Asias longest river and in chinese is known as Chang Jiang (long river)

Historically the Yangtze divided China into North and South

It is the worlds busiest inland waterway for freight transport. Equidistant between Chongqing and shanghai - Wuhan is one of chinas biggest transportation crossroads with rail links running from Guangzhou and Beijing.

The Three Georges region (comprised of three narrow adjacent valleys) is considered one of the most scenic regions - and notably the Three Georges Dam is the largest hydropower station.

In terms of nature the river is a focus of biodiversity. The Giant panda lives in the Bamboo forests of the upper Yangtze and the river also boasts the famous finless porpoise, tiny (1.5 m) Chinese Alligator and and the unfortunately endangered Giant...

I assure you this river flows so far and traverses so many countries and cities that in good sooth there pass and repass on its waters a great number of vessels, and more wealth and merchandize than on all the rivers and all the seas of Christendom put together! It seems indeed more like a Sea than a River. Messer Marco Polo said that he once beheld at that city 15,000 vessels at one time. And you may judge, if this city, of no great size, has such a number, how many must there be altogether, considering that on the banks of this river there are more than sixteen provinces and more than 200 great cities, besides towns and villages, all...

The Yangtze River is phenomenal. Every time when I crossed the river by boat, I can feel the power of it. Millions of people are living beside the river, which also driving some of the biggest power stations in China.

Huge rivers always contain anything it can carry to the sea. Because of the huge population and development of many cities in China, Yangtze River is not a clean river any more.

It is one of the mother rivers of Chinese, I hope people can take care of it and make the river as beautiful as the old days by taking actions as much...
