Travelling between the spectacular scenic areas of Wulinyuan/Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang ('China's most beautiful town'), I had the bonus of crossing this amazing bridge. Ranked as # 12 for height and length, this bridge surely takes the prize for jaw-dropping views. Several of the higher bridges cross the same river, or are in nearby mountains, but none offer the wide panorama of Aizhai. Sitting on the top deck of my bus it really felt like flying for a moment. All the more surreal because the approaches are hidden by a tunnel on one side and a ridge on the other. Blink and you could miss it, but of course there are also viewing areas to pull into nearby. Aizhai Bridge, a suspension bridge on the Baotou-Maoming Expressway in the central Chinese city of Jishou, is shrouded in a sea of clouds, offering motorists a breathtaking view on Saturday.
