Eastern-Tibet’s largest temple, Buddhist university. The temple city located in the plateau basin. Numerous Tibetan temple buildings decorated with red, white and shining gold, Gelug-sect monks in yellow hat, Tibetans who perform, long stretches of prayer wheels, dry chill and dizziness in the highlands. You can meet the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple outside the Tibet Autonomous Region. So it is still a rare place to encounter pure Tibetan Buddhism.

동티베트 최대의 사원, 불교대학. 고원분지에 자리잡은 사찰도시. 붉은 색과 흰 색 그리고 빛나는 금빛으로 장식된 수많은 티벳사찰 건물, 황모를 쓴 겔룩파 승려들, 오체투지로 수행하는 장족들, 길게 이어진 마니차 회랑, 고지대의 건조한 냉기와 현기증… 티벳자치구 밖 최대 규모의 티벳불교를 만날 수 있다. 그래서 아직도 순수한 티벳불교를 접할 수 있는 드문 공간이다. 잘 구획된 사찰도시이지만, 진지함과 엄숙함이 감도는 이 공간은 사색을 불러일으킨다. 여유를 가지고 천천히 돌아볼 일이다. 사원주변은 물론 터미널 주변의 숙소들도 난방장치가 없어 추위에 대한 대비가 필요하다. 새로 지어진 호텔도 대부분 같은 시설이다. 좀더 티벳불교를 이해하고자 한다면, 랑무스를 꼭 가보길 권한다. 랑부랑사가 권위있는 기도처라면, 랑무스는 깊은 곳에 숨은 산사의 암자와도 같다. 그리고 중국대륙 최대의 고원초지대인 우얼까이 대초원과 화호를 만날 수 있다. 수목한계선을 넘는 고지대의 광활한 초원은 그 자체로...
