It is already amazing during the day time, but boy in the night when the lights are turned on, the view is breathtaking.
This place was the main entrance of imperial the palace in Luoyang. Built in Sui Dynasty, it has witnessed the rise and fall of Tang dynasty, the enthronement of the one and only empress in the entire Chinese history, the chaos and turmoil of “Five dynasties and Ten Kingdoms” era, it was destroyed during Northern Song dynasty. Fortunately it was reconstructed in 2016, so today we can see what the gates looked like in the old times.
Today this is Luoyang’s landmark and you can hardly miss it when you going through city.
I arrived at the place after 10 pm and the visitors are leaving. It is free for visiting but there are always quite a few girls dressed in gowns posing for their photographers in front of the buildings and the brightly lighted streets.
At some point, probably 11pm, they will switch the lights off, so do not expect that this is on for the whole night.
