靈谷寺是南京市東郊紫金山東南坡下佛寺，位於中山陵以東約1.5千米處。1983年被定為漢族地區佛教全國重點寺院。

靈谷寺最初為南朝梁武帝為尊崇寶志禪師興建的「開善精舍」，位於紫金山獨龍阜玩珠峰南麓，成於天監十三年（514年），寺內還建有寶公塔。唐朝乾符年間改名為「寶公院」，北宋太平興國五年（980年）改稱「太平興國寺」，到明朝初年時被稱作「蔣山寺」。明太祖朱元璋選定此處修建明孝陵，於洪武十四年（1381年）將原寺移到靈谷寺現址，命名為「靈谷禪寺」。當時靈谷寺規模很大，占地500餘畝，但是建築大多毀於清朝咸豐同治年間清軍與太平軍的兵火，雖然同治年間寺院得以重建，規模已大不如前。1928年，國民政府在靈谷寺原址建設國民革命軍陣亡將士公墓，原靈谷寺則遷至東側同治六年所建的龍神廟。1949年中華人民共和國成立後，這一帶被改為「靈谷公園」。

靈谷寺有建於明洪武十四年，用磚石砌成的無量殿（又稱無梁殿）；還有靈谷塔和三絕碑等勝境；玄奘紀念堂中供奉玄奘法師坐像，像前的玄奘法師頂骨...
