The Wuyi Mountain range is one of the World Heritage sites of China. It is made famous by Danxia formation of steep sandstone cliffs and jagged mountains. It is also the site where the famous Dahongpao (a kind of Wulong tea) is grown. A small part of the preserve is open to tourists. It is easily accessible by high speed train from most major cities in China.
A two day visit is an ideal itinerary. We did the Tianyou peak, the Tiger Roaring rock and Yixiantian on the first day and on the second day we floated down the Nine Bend river on bamboo raft in the morning and then visited the Xiamei old village. The latter is one old town in China which had been kept as is and not made over.
The park is well set up. Park buses go to all the attractions free of charge (included in the price of the ticket). Markers on the path are in both Chinese and English. There are lots of bathrooms.
