We absolutely loved Gulong canyon! We came all the way from Hong Kong for only a day visit, but we had more fun at Gulong than we had at Disneyland!
It was an adventure getting there in itself. We took the fast train from Kowloon to Guangzhou (Guangzhounan) - (58 mins), then another fast train from Guangzhounan to Qing Yuan (30 mins), then a 45 min taxi to Gulong. For the second leg you will need to visit the Guangzhounan service centre (access from the outside of the main station building - just follow the signs). Taxi was easy in Qing Yuan, plenty of drivers (legitimate ones) waiting to pounce out the front - yes they use meter. Our fair was 120RMB each way. The driver even picked us up. Was easy and convenient.
The canyon itself is full of weird and wonderful surprises. It consists of a walk along many feature attractions which are fun and interactive and silly all in one, with just a hint of danger to know you’re in China and having a great time!
You only need 2.5 - 3hrs MAX hours at the canyon park, it’s plenty of time to see, do, eat and tick you’re done! The toboggan coming back down was worth every cent too!
Pointers: We had forgotten that China does not have visa or Mastercard, so you WILL need the Alipay app to make purchases ANYWHERE in China. At first this was annoying, but when I’d researched that it was because China did not want to add to the coffers of the US - I loved them for making a statement, so was happy to play along. Save yourself the annoyance and get the app before you leave. There is also no cash ATM’s anywhere at Guangzhou, but you will not need cash at anytime. The taxis take Alipay :)
Have a great time, and thanks Gulong for a...
Read moreWonderful place to visit when you are near Guangzhou. We took the speed train from Guangzhou Railway to Qingyuan for only 16$ first class. Then we got DIDI to this place for only 10$. It’s better to buy tickets here, we had the glass bridge, the Speed challenge cars and the cliff cars for only 35$. We enjoyed our day here for about 4h you can finish all. Restaurants are expensive here so bring food and drinks. We then left back to Guangzhou around 5pm on the same Railway speed train which is only 30min. Very nice trip and don’t cost much, usually the tourist agents charge you 300$ for this trip, which only cost us less than 65$. It’s really easy to get here, we speak no Chinese at all, only used Trip.com, Alipay and DIDI for the whole trip. Really recommend this place...
Read moreGreat place to go for some activities and nature sightseeing. Many youngsters go there for the sea sports like rafting, but for the rest, you can just have a slow stroll up to grab photos of the waterfall and glass bridge.
After you are done, remember to try the luge (sky car) down (you need to buy tickets though).
We took about 3 hours for the entire experience (glass bridge and sky car) and took a didi back, which was half the price of a cab (which we took on the way there).
Great workout at the Gulong gorge and lovely view. Definitely recommended.
We took the high speed rail from Guang Zhou to the Qingyuan stop and then a cab to the gulong gorge, but we would recommend taking a...
