Shanghai Free Walking Tour | Free Tours China — Attraction in Shanghai

I always look for free walking tours of the big cities that I visit while traveling so I was super glad to have found Free Tour Asia! These walking tours often offer such an intimate look into a city, at a slow enough pace to be able to capture that perfect picture before you realize you’ve lost the group!

Dinna founded the tour company after being inspired by the existence of these tours in cities around the world, and it’s the first in Shanghai (and China). You can tell she’s super passionate about this work, having developed four tours around town. I’ve done 3 of the 4 myself and thanks to Dinna, have a much deeper understanding and appreciation for the history of Shanghai.

The Shanghai City tour offers a broad overview of Shanghai and the highlights of the city. The Former French Concession tour was pretty cool, a juxtaposition of the history of Shanghai and modern Shanghai. And finally, my favorite was the Feed Foreign Foodies tour. We made about 8 stops for various kinds of street food - all really affordable and even better when you share with new friends.

I was able to make some new friends - both those just traveling through Shanghai and the new expats who’ve just come to town. By the end of the tour, you feel like you’ve known each other for years!
