2023 Returned to Mukden Palace with my daughter, place was very crowded with local tourists. Due to over crowding, some places was forbidden to enter and only allowed to view from outside.

2009 Old review when I was a cabin crew. Imagine yourself walking back to history. This is the 1st Official Imperial Palace in China, the one at Beijing is 2nd, in term of history this is older. The palace is usually very quiet on a non-holiday season and will take at least 2 hours to finish. Eye opener for tourist like me. Amazing preservation from the small china wares that are still on display to the majestic architecture of the palace. Some of the china wares left me in awe. Buy the tickets directly from the ticket counter as there are some...

Some may compare this palace with the forbidden city. Even Beijing's palace is ten times bigger, Shenyang's is way more interesting, as it still contains furniture and stuff that show the way people who founded the Qing dynasty used to leave. Dazheng Hall is really impressive. The Manchu style is also quite unique, and extensions of the 18th century built for hosting the emperor and his family during visits to Shenyang give to that place a peaceful charm that is really worth the visit. Half a day at least will be necessary to contemplate all the pavilions and carefully read all the explanation of Huang Taiji's reign and Qing dynasty's origins. Parts are always under renovation, and some more pavilions may open in the coming...

I loved this place. It was so big and there were so many things to explore. This is an authentic Chinese palace with many different parts opened so that you can find out about life in the olden days in a chinese palace. You can ask for a guided tour but you would of course have to pay. I honestly thought that it would be boring and was even reluctant to go as I thought it would be only about history, however, as soon as I arrived the scenery blew me away. The palace was so majestic and even the alleys and corridors were insta-worthy. 10/10 would go again especially if...

Lots of history and amazing view into the life of Manchu culture and rulers. The grounds can take a good 3-4 hours to cover them all, so hydrate for the summer heat and dress warm in winter, but we'll worth the visit regardless of the season. Stunning achitecture, unique furnishings, and impressively maintained as a world cultural site. It isn't as big as the Forbidden City in Beijing, but it gives just as good a view of history. For a unique experience, you can very affordably (about ¥100) don clothing reflective of its history to wear as you tour
