🏔️ The Routes:
Short Route (2-3 Hrs): Easy start to Chonggu Monastery & Pearl Lake. Great for views and acclimatization.
Long Route (7-8 Hrs): The challenging path to Milk Lake and Five-Color Lake. This is where the real work begins!
⚠️ The Reality Check (BEWARE!)
This is high-altitude travel. You must prepare for the grind:
Altitude Sickness: The air is thin! Go slow, breathe deep, and take preventative medication before you start.
The Stairs are Relentless: The final 1-2 km of the Long Route involves steep, grueling steps. You need good fitness and serious determination.
Food is Basic: Most food stops only offer instant Chinese noodles. Pack plenty of water, high-energy snacks, and sandwiches for the 7-8 hour trek.
Crowd Chaos: Be firm! Many people try to skip lines for the electric carts or viewing areas. Stand your ground!
Restroom Alert: The public toilets are notoriously dirty and smelly. Prepare accordingly, and carry hand sanitizer.
