Huanglong National Scenery Spot Ticket Office — Attraction in Sichuan

Huanglong is a breathtaking destination, famous for its vibrant travertine pools, snow-capped peaks, and diverse wildlife. The scenery is like something out of a painting, with crystal-clear turquoise pools, golden limestone terraces, and lush forests.

🏔️ Things to Know Before Visiting: ✅ Altitude Warning: Huanglong sits at 3,100–3,500 meters, so altitude sickness is real! Take it slow, stay hydrated, and consider oxygen cans if needed. ✅ Scenic Bus Option: If you want to save energy, take the scenic bus to the Five-Color Pond (¥20). Otherwise, it’s a 3km uphill hike (~40 mins). ✅ Best Time to Visit: September–October is ideal for golden autumn colors, while spring/summer offers lush greenery. ✅ Visit in the morning to avoid long queues. We visit in the afternoon, waited 2 hours.

The good: Natural scenery of the thousands of flat terraced crystal clear blue green water makes you never want to leave. Getting to the top is easy with a cable car Plenty of rest and bathroom stations along the way

The bad: No way to get back down to the entrance unless you walk down the 2-3 hour boardwalk trek which will guarantee to ruin your knees and ankles for next day. One of their walkway to five color pond was closed, but we were not informed at the ticketing. We ended up hiking downhill 2km and back up 2km to the attraction. If we were informed, we would take the tourist shuttle at the hilltop instead of the walkway. Also, it was early May, and most of their ponds were empty.
