Extremely crowded, but worth the price. I would go in non peak seasons for cheaper prices and an incredibly nice atmosphere. (December) This place is worth seeing even despite the many Chinese tourists around. Unfortunately, camping is forbidden in this park. Skip to main content Search

One of the most accessible trails I’ve seen! All the paths are clean, well marked and easy to hike. The bathrooms, wending machines and track bins are at every lake or waterfall. It gets quite crowded at the major attractions, but there is no one on the trails between the lakes as people mostly move by buses and don’t walk between the scenic spots. It’s so accessible, there are a lot of old people and people with stealers and kids. Have not seen anything like this before!

Read moreHello, Have you ever imagined a dreamlike valley with waters shimmering in blue, green and golden colors, where mountains, lakes and waterfalls are spreading a majestic beauty? One such valley is called Jiuzhaigou. Located in Sichuan Province, China, about 330 kilometers from Chengdu, this magical valley is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is famous all over the world for its natural beauty. The clear lakes, high waterfalls and colorful ponds here make this valley a paradise.
Last weekend, we traveled to this beautiful valley of Jiuzhaigou. On Friday, we left Chengdu in the afternoon after work and spent the night in a comfortable hotel in Jiuzhaigou. The next day, when we started our journey through this dreamlike valley, we felt as if we had entered a majestic fairy tale.
First we arrived at Long Lake, and as soon as we got there, we felt like we were in a television documentary or an animated world. The morning snowfall had covered the trees with a white blanket, and the snow-covered trees in the background of the lake were creating a magical scene. It was all incredible, but the cold there was so intense that we shivered.
After that, we headed to the 5 Colored Pond. This lake is a natural wonder of Jiuzhaigou, whose water shimmers in five different colors. The water of the lake is so clear that blue, green, yellow, and purple are reflected in it, which are its special characteristics. It is said that the color of this lake never remains the same and changes depending on the season.
Then we arrived at the 5 Flower Lake, where the water is so transparent that the trees and stones below are clearly visible. This lake also has the ability to change its color and spreads new colors with the season.
Finally, Nurling Waterfall was also a memorable part of our trip. When we saw this high waterfall, the rapid flow of water took us to another world. The noise of this waterfall and the rapid waves of water are truly captivating.
After visiting Jiuzhaigou, we found a Muslim hotel nearby where we had dinner. There were many other halal Muslim restaurants there. After dinner, we reached Huanglong after a drive of about two and a half hours and stayed in a hotel because we planned to visit Huanglong on Sunday.

One of the famous tourist attraction at JiuZhaiGou Valley--Five Colour Pond
The Jiuzhaigou valley is part of the Min Mountains on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau and stretches over 72,000 hectares (180,000 acres). It is known for its many multi-level waterfalls, colorful lakes, and snow-capped peaks. Its elevation ranges from 2,000 to 4,500 metres (6,600 to 14,800 ft).
History
Jiuzhaigou (literally "Nine Settlement Valley") takes its name from the nine Tibetan settlements along its length.
The remote region was inhabited by various Tibetan and Qiang peoples for centuries. Until 1975 this inaccessible area was little known. Extensive logging took place until 1979, when the Chinese government banned such activity and made the area a national park in 1982. An Administration Bureau was established and the site officially opened to tourism in 1984; layout of facilities and regulations were completed in 1987.
The site was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1992 and a World Biosphere Reserve in 1997. The tourism area is classified as a AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration.
Since opening, tourist activity has increased every year: from 5,000 in 1984 to 170,000 in 1991, 160,000 in 1995, to 200,000 in 1997, including about 3,000 foreigners. Visitors numbered 1,190,000 in 2002. As of 2004, the site averages 7,000 visits per day, with a quota of 12,000 being reportedly enforced during high season. The Town of Zhangzha at the exit of the valley and the nearby Songpan County feature an ever-increasing number of hotels, including several luxury five-stars, such as Sheraton.
Developments related to mass tourism in the region have caused concerns about the impact on the environment...
