Tiger Hill is probably the most iconic and well-known destination in Suzhou and that is not without merit. There are a number of beautiful gardens, moat areas, creekside pathways, rockery and out buildings in addition to the central temple and pagoda complex.
Needless to say, photo opportunities abound and there are plenty of lesser visited trails to explore if you get tired of the crowds.
If I were to level any complaint and it is nitpicky, I admit, it is a bit touristy for my taste, compared to some of the lesser known but equally beautiful gardens that dot the Suzhou map.
That said, it is hard to imagine visiting Suzhou without visiting Tiger Hill so I won't even try to do so.
Pro-Tip: Obviously, avoid weekends when crowds are an issue. Better still, visit in late fall, winter or very early spring. It is not that cold, still beautiful and relatively uncrowded.
