My wife and I stayed for four nights at the Renaissance Hotel in Wuhan. Thanks to the excellent arrangements by James Chen, Director of Rooms, we enjoyed a beautiful and spacious suite on a Club floor. The Club lounge offers a wide selection of food choices during Happy Hour, always replenished promptly. The Club lounge staff are friendly and very professional. In fact, friendly professionalism is obviously this hotel’s culture, whether it is the lifeguard at the pool, the housekeeping staff, the front desk reception, the concierge, or the chefs at the 2nd-floor restaurant, everyone is at the top of their game with a smile and attentiveness to their guests. I have rarely seen this level of professional hospitality across all hotel services. Hospitality is particularly in evidence at the 2nd-floor restaurant which provides the breakfast buffet. First, about the food: the breakfast buffet is excellent. In particular, one should not miss the eggs benedict, which is extra special. They have a unique recipe for the bread they use with the eggs benedict – very tasty. Second, about the restaurant service: the staff in the restaurant are really on the ball. No food item is allowed to run out, and dirty dishes are cleared quickly, There are even staff, other than the cooks and those waiting on tables, whose job, it seems, is to just circulate throughout the restaurant and make sure everyone is well taken care of. The level of attentiveness and politeness is amazing and far beyond what I’ve experienced at other hotels. We enjoyed the swimming pool and the jacuzzi and sauna [Note to the hotel: one bad experience, however; after swimming, when my wife went to use the sauna in the Ladies’ changing room, she found that someone had draped their underwear over the water dispenser, and their shoes and towel on the stove bench (very unhygienic, unsightly, and most important, a fire hazard). My wife brought it to the attention of the staff, but the staff really should be more careful to check their facilities to guard against such misuse of the facilities.] By the way, next door to the hotel is a supermarket, which carries not only groceries but also a range of other items (sort of like a...
Read moreFrom the moment when we first contacted the hotel from the U.S. to our current stay in room 1012 and 918, I can't say enough great things about the Renaissance Wuhan as a somewhat nitpicky Marriott Titanium member!!!
Wuhan was one of the cities that I looked forward to the most during my return to China since the shutdown. The guest services (Cora, Rawena, and the rest of the front desk staff were so helpful and accommodating) right from the start!!! I was meeting up with my aunt and cousins on this trip, and this outstanding staff proactively upgraded one of the rooms to a Club suite so we had more space to sit and reminisce about family and life in general (thank you)!!! The executive lounge was fantastic as well, Timo, Locke, and others were so helpful and caring about every single tiny detail. Certain seats in the 21st floor have eye popping views of the iconic Wuhan skyline (so impressed with the resilient citizens, unprecedented times create unprecedented people). The dinner hors d'oeuvres were delicious (curry beef, leg of lamb and oysters along with the other items, drinks, fresh fruits, and pastries)!!! Housekeeping came everyday during the morning/afternoon to freshen up the room. I didn't have the kids with me on this trip so we didn't get a chance to try out the state of the art gym (poor excuse for myself after all the eating) and the immaculate looking pool!!! I won't go into details about breakfast, it was simply our favorite meal of the day (countless number of selections, east and west), perfect way to start each day!!!
The location of the hotel is convenient as well, just a 5 minute walk to Yuejiazui station (line 4 and line 8). It has easy access to both Wuhan train stations and Tianhe airport.
Overall, I just can't thank this prestigious property and every staff member (Cora, Rawena, Locke, Timo, and others) enough for making this the perfect stay for us during our first ever visit to Wuhan!!! I would recommend the Renaissance Wuhan most highly and will definitely be back with the family in...
