My boyfriend and I stayed in the Ambassador Suite over Chinese New Year. We found the room very comfortable. The living area was absolutely massive with a table for 6, a kitchen, separate powder room, living room area and a study area. There was a surround sound system which we used and enjoyed. The bedroom was also very comfortable though the main bathroom did seem a bit small. There was around ten bottles of water in the room which we appreciated immensely. there was also coffee grounds and a French press which I took advantage of. Our only complaints about the room were that the lights were dim and finding the light switches was sometimes not possible. I was never able to find the light switches for the dressing room or the study. There are lights in those areas but I was never able to find how to turn them on. Didn’t affect us at all. The other complaint was that the room was very warm. This also didn’t particularly impact us. ||All the local tourist attractions were closed while we were there as were the swimming pool, gym, and other hotel amenities which was unfortunate but understandable due to the virus outbreak. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel and both were fine. For the dinner buffet they serve beer, red and white wine, and cocktails which was nice. The staff were also fine. The dining and cleaning staff were great and The front desk and concierge were polite but not particularly helpful or accommodating. With everything being closed we were looking for something, anything to do. They gave us no options, just a subway map. We even asked if, considering that we were in a club level suite and that every other amenity in the hotel was closed, we could spend some time in the lounge. We were unfortunately told that no, we could not visit the lounge without purchasing some lounge access package at a premium. It seemed to me, that because the pool, gym and spa were closed they could try to accommodate us in some way, but they disagreed. So in the end we spent the holiday in the room only coming out to eat. Ended up being a boring holiday and while I loved the room, I wasn’t enthused by the way the staff handled the situation.||I would like to visit Xi’an again as I wasn’t able to see the local attractions like the terra-cotta army which I am very interested in seeing. This hotel has a very good location literally right beside a metro station which takes you directly to the train station with high speed trains to shanghai. However, despite the excellent location and the spectacular room, I’m am not convinced that I would choose to stay at this...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in this hotel for three nights. We booked a standard room which was very affordable, and the hotel is located in the city centre, great location! There is a subway station just right next to the hotel so that’s very convenient as traffic in Xi’an is terrible! Upon check-in, a member of staff helped us and he was very friendly, he spoke English very well and that was helpful for us. Apparently the room that booked isn’t available so they upgraded us to a suite which was sweet! The room was humongous! It was very fancy, however I think the hotel is quite old, and some interior needs changing. We had a massive bed, maybe a California king bed? Very comfy bed!We had afternoon tea for two and a happy hour in the evening. (Not our favourite but it was a good deal). The gym was good too, they have some basic equipment and we were happy with it. The swimming pool was full of children so we didn’t use it, as we wanted peace and quiet. This is the most exciting part! On our final night, we got back quite late from exploring Xi’an and when we entered our room, it was pretty dark. No electricity. 🤣 I was super exhausted and I wanted to have a bath and just relax. But no can do. We had to go downstairs and update staff about the situation. We were told to wait downstairs, they gave us some water and we sat for about 15 minutes or so. And then a staff came to see us with a new set of key cards. She apologized to us for the inconvenience, like many times! We told her it wasn’t their fault but I think they really need some renovation haha (I didn’t say that to her), so she said we will be moved to a different room, from 20th floor to 28th floor. It sounded like we just got upgraded again! Haha. So we headed up to our new room, I opened the doors and wow! It was a 2-floor suite! It was amazing! I wanted to live in it haha. We were very exhausted and tired but it was a very sweet experience to have! My favourite was the bathroom as we had double sinks! (Yup that’s my thing) Overall, our stay in this hotel has been amazing. (Apart from the electricity problem)We liked the staff best, they were very helpful and kind to us. Everyone who worked in this hotel has been superb! And lastly, the manager gave us 20% discount as a compensation for the electricity incident. I would recommend this hotel to others due to its great location and incredibly...
Read moreI have to say the unsatisfied experience trigger from the very beginning when I made the booking. The confusion and not clear guideline for the different offer code made me adjust my booking in the website for many times. Unfortunately, I forgot to choose "Non smoking" when I finally completed my booking. But I find the mistake once I received the confirmation letter from hotel. By nomal experience with other hotel, I reply the mail directly to request for the amendment. Then the funny thing happened. I received the mail to inform me not every request can be followed via email instruction, but there's no futher information about if my request can be done. OK, then I follow the mails instruction and call the SPG hotline. Well, the agent told me she can do nothing for the request because I made the booking via the website and guide me to call hotel front desk. OK, I do so. The first time, the girl told me the request need to pass to Revervation Dept to follow however they were off duty, it's around 6:00PM. Then I called another day within the office hour, but got another answer that, I have no need to inform but just mention it when I check-in. Gosh, how confusion of the handling and guidance. After I wrote a complain letter to their email account. I got a call from hotel but I missed it. They called just once. When I check-in, I asked who called me and for what, no one can answer. How confusion of the internal communication. Finally, I settled down in the hotel. And I booked a Afternoon Tea. But when I ask the staff in lobby, no matter the bell boy or the reception, no one known the offer and where I can enjoy my meal. I have been guided to the buffet, then I can finally have someone to lead me to the tea house. Eventhough the room facility is not bad, as I have to paid for it. But I had never felt I got any service from the staff no matter from SPG hotline, email reply or hotel staff. It's the standard of a worldwide high class hotel should be? The only smilling face and surprised when I stayed there was from the room clearer. One morning I heard a "good morning" and...
