The display is excellent and the warriors are relatively undisturbed. Kudos to the archaeologists and curators for doing an outstanding job of presenting the terracotta army in as close as possible to the original condition.

The signage was in English and Mandarin and very informative when you could get close enough to actually read them.

The disadvantage, not surprisingly, was the crowds which made it hard to get close enough to get a good view of the warriors, especially in Pit number 1.

The ticket price was certainly not cheap but well worth the 120 RMB per person.

Pro Tip: I personally wouldn't recommend using a guide. They ask for exorbitant fees and they are hard to hear clearly amidst the din of the archaeological sites. In my opinion, they didn't add much that wasn't already written on the signs.

Spend time in Pits 2 and especially 3 as they are less spectacular but less crowded as well. You will have a much better chance of getting a great photo in these secondary...

Impressive display of the terracotta army that was once guarding the tomb of the first Emperor of China Qin Shi Huang who ruled from 221 to 210 BCE.

It is estimated that around 700.000 workers were involved in creating the tomb and the army. At some places you can still see fragments of the colourful paint on the warriors that was used when they were made. It must have been a spectacular sight when the tomb was completed more then two centuries ago.

As expected it was busy with tourists and there are many tours offered by the hotels when you are not on a longer organised tours where this visit...
