The fortifications of Xi'an, also known as Xi'an City Wall, in Xi'an, represent one of the oldest, largest and best preserved Chinese city walls. It was built under the rule of the Hongwu Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang as a military defense system.

Read moreWe'd planned on coming here to see the city wall, but we had no idea we'd get to bicycle it! It was great fun, and not strenuous at all (it's a flat city wall, after all). You get to see the City Wall much more thoroughly than you would if you just walked it, because you can cover more ground more quickly.
