무즈타그 아타(Muztagh Ata,慕士塔格峰,7,546m :중국 커쯔러쑤 키르기스 자치주 아커타오현)는 카라쿨 호수를 사이에 두고 콩구르 타그와 마주하고 있는 고봉으로 쿤룬산맥과 파미르고원에 위치한다. 수많은 빙하와 만년설로 뒤덮혀 있어 얼음 산의 아버지(무즈타그 아타)라고 불린다. 무즈타그 아타의 동쪽은 수직 절벽 이지만 서쪽은 비교적 완만한 경사로 이루어져 있어 파미르고원 제2위 레닌봉과 함께  많은 산악인들이 정상 등반에 도전한다. 중국쪽 카라코람 하이웨이 G314를 타고 타슈쿠르간을 지나 70km 정도를 가다보면 오른쪽으로 지금까지 보던 설산과는 차원이 다른 거대한 고봉이 하늘을 찌르고 길을 가로막으며  서있는데 어마무시한 높이와 크기로 입이 떡 벌어지게 만든다. 바로 무즈타그 아타 산이다. G314 KKH는 무즈타그 아타를 남쪽에서 북쪽으로 올라가며 서쪽 사면까지 보여주는데 정상의 서쪽 사면 중턱 중앙에는 거인의 발자국(Giant's Footprints)이라고 부르는 거대하게 움푹 들어간 곳이 있습니다.거인이 무즈타그 아타를 오르다 미끌어져 오른쪽 발에 힘을 주고 멈추었는데 그 힘이 어찌나 강하던지 산이 움푹 파여 거인의 발자국으로 남게 되었다는 썰이 있습니다.믿거나 말거나! 아무튼 이 거인의 발자국으로 얼음이 떨어지고 흘러내려 코르토막 빙하를 형성하며 움푹 들어간 곳의 왼쪽으로 가면 정상 등반의 북쪽 루트 오른쪽으로 가면 남쪽 루트가 되는데  현재 남쪽 루트가 가장 안전하고 인기가 높다고 합니다. 무즈타그 아타의 서쪽 사면과 코르토막 빙하 거인의 발자국은 G364 KKH에서 10km정도의 가까운 거리에 있어 차안에 편안하게 앉아서 무즈타그 아타의 맨얼굴을 20분 이상 빤히 쳐다볼 수 있습니다. 그래도 무즈타그 아타는 불평불만 없이 다 받아줍니다. 크고 아름다운 산의 자신감과...
