The museum is finished to a very high standard with plenty of interesting and varied exhibits such as old factory kit and large models showing the industrial history of the city. Naturally this comes with plenty of state approved patriotism but it isn't too awkward for a foreigner.
I would say 20% of exhibits have English translation which is good enough to walk around and feel involved if your Chinese isn't up to scratch. Translation was obviously done professionally and not simply shoved into Google translate like things often are!
