Asia Hotel — Attraction in Zhifu District

Stayed here in November 2010 with my kids (my husband is working there and living in this hotel). The staff is excellent and working so hard on learning English. They made sure to have a boquet of flowers for my husband to give me upon arrival at the airport and always made any arrangements we needed in order for us to get around town etc.... They even put a bed in the living room for our kids since it is only a one bedroom w/ kitchenette. It does have small washer which I could never figure out since the instructions were in Chinese so we just sent our laundry out with housekeeping. Food and drinks in the restaurant on first floor were decent and the breakfast on the second floor had a good variety even for my picky daughters. My 16 year old suddenly needed feminine hygiene products and after translating through 3 different staff members - they walked us off the property and even went in to the store to help us purchase them - much to my daughter's embarrassment - don't know if any other hotel would have taken that extra step to help a guest. I think sometimes a staff that goes above and beyond can make up for medicore...

This hotel is in a good location in the middle of town. It is walking distance from numerous restaurants and department stores. Staff are courteous and patient. ||||We stayed on the 15th floor which has been completely refurbished. The room was pleasant, well-fitted and smoke-free. The hotel has succumbed to China's see-through bathroom obsession so you might want to check your room first if privacy is an issue.||||The fridge in the room worked and drinks were reasonably priced. If you stay here in early Autumn, you will definitely need the drinks. The central air-conditioning was turned off, with the result that our room was actually several degrees hotter than the outside temperature. We tried opening the window but traffic noise was too loud. This is one of those typical China policies where heating and cooling systems are turned on and off at the beginning of particular months, regardless of seasonal variations. ||||With the caveat that you should check the humidity of the room and the air-conditioning situation at the time, this hotel represents good...
