Guadalupe Hill — Attraction in Bogota, Capital District

The reviews did not make me hesitant to go but it just made me more cautious. After reading about the person whose car got broken in. After taking a walk up towards the statue they were also police officers up there .I do not by any circumstances recommend walking because it's very far as well as biking because the road is very narrow and it can be dangerous. Just went to see the statue. First of all - it is very safe.. A lot of police and military personal on the way and on the top. 20 mins driving from Bogota. The road is montanious and curvy. We took yellow cab from funicular station in the base of Monseratt. The driver waited for us(around 40mins) at the little parking lot at the base of the statue. From the parking lot to the actual statue is 15 mins. walk up the hill. It costs us 120 000COP(~USD40) for the entire trip(including going back to the airport). A must visit place. Take a community taxi for 5000 pesos from cra 10 con calle 6 (national police headquarters, next door). Tell the driver entrada para Guadeloupe. Then hike up the paved road for about 20-30 minutes. There are signs. If you cannot or unwilling to hike, taxi will take you all the way up, but be sure to negotiate in advance how much you will pay total round trip (ida y vuelta) plus 1 hour waiting time.
