Peña de Otí — Attraction in Boyacá

This place has a breathtaking view. I was taken here by a local who happens to be my best friend’s father in law. Mongui completely stole my heart. People are warm and welcoming, humble and caring. Landscapes are out of this world and just a lot to do. You can program many activities for the day including paramos. Horse riding or simply admiring the towns structure. Peña de Oti is very important in the history of mongui because the locals brought pieces of the rock to help build the towns church. Everyone helped. And thats why is so significant. The trail location on the driving directions is INCORRECT the trail up is actually about 10 minutes further down the road on the left, it's marked by a boulder with an arrow n Oti written on it. Ein sehr schöner Ort. Wenn man sich in Mongui befindet, sollte man die kurze Wanderung auf alle Fälle sich gönnen. Ungeübte Wanderer werden es in so circa 1,5 Stunden schaffen geübte Wanderer wesentlich schneller. Auf dem Weg dorthin kommt man an ein paar Häusern einheimischer vorbei, die Hunde besitzen, die oftmals nicht an der Leine haben. Leider sind diese teils sehr aggressiv. Ein großer Stock oder Wander Stab helfen dabei diese auf Abstand zu halten. Das letzte Stück ist etwas steiler und es ist ratsam, stabile und rutschfeste Schuhe anzuziehen. Am Eingang zum letzten steilen Stück findet man sehr viele Fliegenpilze. Ansonsten hat die Flora und Fauna dort auch einiges zu bieten. Der Ort ist auch wenig besucht.
