Surprisingly many locals don’t know about this place and have never been which ia crazy to me. The hike it’s definitely worth it and it was my favorite part of visiting bogota, a quick escape from the hustle and bustle. So, here’s what I did (cheap and easy): Uber to transoriente bus station (between calle 6 and av. Caracas) and take the 8:00 am or 8:30 am bus to Choachí but let the driver know to drop you off at la chorrera and take a window seat on the left (trust me). Bus: $9,000 Cop (Aug/2023) At the drop off spot there’ll be people offering a ride to the entrance in a 4x4 (16,000 - 20,000 cop depending on your negotiation skills but always expect a gringo tax) i recommend taking it. I decided not to take it to walk and enjoy the views and it took me 1 hour to get to the entrance at a good pace, in retrospective I would’ve taken the ride. There are like 4-5 different entry fees / packages starting at 40,000 cop. All of them include fruit, small bottle of water, chocolate bar, colombian candy and a small bag which definitely made my life easier. I went for the one that included a delicious lunch (diff options: pork, beef, vegetarian and fish) for the solid price of 60,000 cop. Solid hike with steep paths but easier than expected even tho I had that extra 1 hour to get to the entrance. Expect a total of 3-4 hours depending on you physical condition and pace. I spent a total of 6 hours from the bus drop-off and back including lunch time and time for taking pictures and resting at the waterfall. You can’t swim tho :( To return to bogota you can take another ride to the highway and catch a colectivo. A guy charged me $16,000 cop total including the colectivo ride to Bogota which is $9,000 so you only need to figure out how to get to the highway. Colectivos will stop when they see you by the...
Read moreThe tallest waterfall in Colombia very close to Bogotá. To get there without car you must take a regular service van that goes from Bogotá to Choachi (about COP$10K) You can take it at Calle 6 down half block from Av. Caracas (Tercer Milenio Station). You should ask the driver to leave you at La Chorrera. He will drop you off on the road about 1 hour from Bogotá. There may be some people in vans or 4x4s that will be willing to take you to the waterfall camping ground site for a fee. Otherwise you can hike there and it will take you about 1 hour through a rural unpaved road. You will be asked to pay an entrance fee at the camping site (COP$12K) and from there to the waterfall itself there is another 1 hour hike through a difficult path, with many ups and downs and muddy terrain. On the way you will pass El Chiflón, a smaller waterfall where there is a restaurant. Overall a very nice day trip where you will get a glimpse of the outstanding sights of the...

Get an TRUCK 4x4 uber or taxi to AVENTURA LA Chorrera. The road is going to be paved until about 2-3 kilometers out from the Entrance. The road is unpaved closer to the Cascada La Chorrera.
Bring extra cash because it is impossible to get a cab/uber once you are off the main road. MAKE SURE!!! your cab/taxi/uber waits for you. The trail takes approximately 2-3 hours total to complete.
ENTRANCE FEE IS 40,000 COP for 1 adult.
Water level is low Jan-Feb, June the water is highest.
Bring snacks/water.
They have a small restaurant that is overpriced.
The trail is steep so if you out of shape I would skip it. Its slippery so wear decent shoes.
UBER is technically illegal for columbian drivers but they will take you and back.
IF YOU MISS YOUR RIDE YOU HAVE TO WALK BACK 2-3 KM to the main road and catch a bus which I don’t recommend if you don’t know...
