My recommendation to national park agency is to buy a right of way through the private land access and build a proper professional trail that is safer for hiking. A trail built to handle heavy rain, without slippery mud, having to grab roots and damage knees and does not go directly straight up and down the mountain which is bad for soil conservation. Current park trails are just old trails not built for hiking or backpacking. The right of way would cure the problem of having to hire guides across private land. A proper trail would have signs posted where needed to keep people on correct path. Experienced hikers can read a map without need for guide. Local guides should be available for those who desire to hire one. Reservations and payments for permits should be available online like any booking website. Eliminate need to go to an inconvenient office far away or at least put a person at the trailhead to handle permits and collect money for that day as many days there are less people than allocation of permits. Rebuild trail up Pico Pance to professional specifications as well. It's just straight up without proper switchbacks. Many people will continue hiring guides because they...
Read moreFor sure an adventure to climb Pico de Loro. Only possible by reserving a slot for local guided tours minimal 3 days in advance. This is quite a hussle and not a very easy and transparent bookingprocess. Mainly Spanish speaking guest. Bilingual guide request at 250.000 pesos 🤔, which we did not do because it was very expensive. Whereas it is all about the inspiring nature no problem with the language. The guides are all super friendly, we were very lucky with Antonio who made tremendous pictures at the top. Note that this is not an easy hike , certainly not if it has been raining. You really need good climbing shoes. Average 3, 5 hours uphill , 45 minutes rest and 3 hours ( heavy) downhill. We can certainly advise this hike to anybody who is looking for a exciting hiking adventure guided by friendly cooperative guides and of course on the top a nice view !! ( depending on the...
