The Lost City 🥾 Completed my first ever backpacking trek!! I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it was. We had a lot of advantages rather than fully roughing it, but it was a good way to ease into it for my first time. Each morning our guides had breakfast prepared at 5:30am. By 6:00am everyday we began hiking through the jungle. Along the way we saw mountains, jumped into rivers, saw all different kinds of wildlife, and learned about the different tribes who inhabit the area. As we trekked, there were multiple huts where we would stop for fresh fruit and snacks. Lunch and dinner was also cooked and ready for us by time we arrived at each camp. We had showers available each night (cold showers, very very cold) but it was nice being able to get cleaned up. Most of us slept in the outdoor beds but we had the option to sleep in hammocks as well. It was a great bonding experience between our group of 15. We are all from different countries so it was fun learning about our cultural differences. Over the 4 days we hiked 28 miles with 9,000 ft of elevation gain. They truly made it such an enjoyable experience. My favorite part was being able to jump into all of the rivers and swim along the way. It helped break up the hiking and was so refreshing, especially in the heat of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Visited in 2016: It‘s a great hike through the jungle - sweaty but very rewarding. During the hike we enjoyed Mother Earth, sleeping in hammocks and swimming in rivers. Mosquito repellent is always recommended. It‘s mostly uphill towards Ciuadad Perdida. The way back is much easier. We came in a small group of three with a guide who explained us a bit about the history of the lost City. It reminded me a bit of Machu Picchu (different culture, history, etc though), except that it‘s less crowded since you cannot get there by train and bus. Very recommended.

Great tour and fun place to go visit. Lots of steps from the river to get up to the city. There are hundreds of leveled stone platforms that used to have houses which are all gone now, lost to the ages. Definitely threat experience. Waterfalls to explore, cliff jumping into river ponds on the trek in. I would highly...
