This place is like visiting a jungle but in the middle of a city. It feels safe, it has good walking trails, the sound of birds is lovely and there are plenty of areas where you can take a seat, chilling and contemplating the surroundings. There are just a few drawbacks and are related to some areas that are closer to a Gym and a construction site, so the noise and the music ruins the experience, but the park is quite big, so there are still plenty of areas where you can just stay in a calm environment. At the entrance of the park you have to purchase the entry tickets that cost around COP$12.500 for a Colombian visitor and COP$10.000 for a local visitor ( I am not sure exactly how much it increases for a tourist from another country). The ticket gives you two options for the same price ( that doesn't make much sense for me), option 1: you can ask for a map and take the tour by yourself or option 2: you could wait for a guide that will follow you during the visit and explain about the trees, plants and so on. PS. the guides are not always good in English, so you must know a little bit of Spanish.

The parking lot is small, so if you visit by car, there is a chance to not find space for parking. The experience could take you around 1h - 2h according to your pace. There are some walking trails that are relatively steep or muddy ( according to the weather), so you should take extra care if you visit the park with elderly or young people to...
Read moreExcellent place if you want to know really about the nature, the trees, birds, plants, flowers and some kinds of little animals that can be over this botanical garden of the Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira.
The guides will give you an awesome explanation of the biodiversity that this garden has, normally including little histories of the place, it's creation and other things.
Also you will have the chance to go in the little forest of the garden to have the explanations with the views at he same time.
It is the nearest botanical garden that the city of Pereira has, which I mean that in car from the center of Pereira to here it would be kind of 5 minutes.
This will be your best option to know about the nature around the...
Read moreThis is a must see sight in Pereira. It is more like a botanical jungle walk where one feels like they are deep in the jungle. The birds, animals, plants, trees and other life is amazing. The walk is easy-moderate if you take it slow. It can take about one hour if you do the whole loop slowly. There are two shorter paths to cross over if you want a shorter walk. The beauty and solitude is amazing. The entrance fee is 40 pesos, but worth it. You can also hire a guide who works with the Botanical Garden, but it is not necessary as the trail is...
