Tunel de la Quiebra - El Limon — Attraction in Santo Domingo

The Tunnel de la Quiebra is an historical site from the old Colombian railroad network now left to ruin and rot.

A lot of the area is being rebuilt, and some of the stores offer some good service, the waterfall is beautiful but it has difficult access due to the construction efforts being done of the new highway system, it is still an iconic part of the Cisneros region and the overall valley, if you spare the time and wanna go sightseeing it is a good place for a small lunch away from...

It's really great to see an architectural building, well, it was so hard to build it in that time, around 1920's. It's located between the Santiago and El Limón towns, one entrance is in Santiago and the exit in El Limón. You have the option to take a little wagon which you pay and it takes you through the tunnel, but I recommend to live the experience walking through the darkness and the cold inside the tunnel, it's more amazing, just need one hour and a half to finish...

🚂🛤️⛰️🍃 Un excelente lugar para recorrer nuestros caminos ancestrales. 🚃Llegamos desde Medellín hasta el corregimiento de Santiago. Los buses se toman desde la terminal del norte, cuesta $13.000 el pasaje y te tardas un poco más de hora y media. 🛤️ Luego iniciamos el recorrido de nuestra caminata a través del túnel, aproximadamente 1 hora a paso regular. También hay opción de hacer el recorrido en los carritos motorizados. ⚠️Debes llevar linterna pues el túnel no cuenta con iluminación en su interior y estar atento en el recorrido, pues transitan también los carritos motorizados y debes hacerte a un lado mientras estos pasan para evitar accidentes. Al salir del túnel está la estación del Limón, allí hay tienditas para comer y tomar alguito.
