Cute little place that’s full of hummingbirds, and an idillic place to spend a morning birdwatching, we saw at least 6 different species of hummingbirds, as well as owls and other birds.

A tour of the place takes about 1.5 hours, reserve your visit in advance on their website and bring cash to pay when you get there.

Be aware that the road up to the front gate is super rocky, narrow and steep, you will need a good car to get there. The municipality should maintain the roads better, but that’s not the observatory’s fault.

The only actual critique I have is that the exit from the highway is hard to find, the observatory should put a sign there because it’s very...

The Hummingbird Observatory also know as Observatorio de Colibries is a an awesome getaway from busy Bogotá. If you want to see and experience something different than the typical Bogotá tour you will want to experience this. The road to get there is mainly unpaved, Google Maps has been updated as of this post and will get you there but if you want to add to your experience you can walk the 5 km from the main road or bring your mountain bike to get to the place. I enjoyed the patios and birdwatching while in complete quite, the birds are easy to appreciate and are unbelievably beautiful. I suggest to make an entire day out of it specially if you want to...

A hidden gem in the outskirts of Bogotá located in La Calera. It took us about 50 minutes from Bogotá.

The place is a sanctuary for many different species of hummingbirds. You have to make reservations on heir website prior to your visit since. I think it makes sense since the place doesn’t get too crowded and you can enjoy looking at the hummingbirds. The owner is really passionate about providing the best experience for the visitors as well as taking care of these magnificent birds.

Absolutely an...

Hermoso lugar! Muy tranquilo. Se ven diversas especies de aves y sobre todo de colibríes. Totalmente recomendado para hacer avistamiento y/o ir a relajarse.
