Wigmore’s Waterfall – A Hidden Gem on Rarotonga Just a short drive or an easy 15-minute walk from the main road, Wigmore’s Waterfall is a refreshing and peaceful spot well worth a visit. The entrance is conveniently located near the abandoned Sheraton site, and the waterfall itself resembles a small family swimming pool, with clean, pristine water and depths of up to 10–12 feet in the deeper sections.

Access is straightforward — a two-wheel drive car can make the trip easily if you take it slow. After heavy rain, the road can get a bit rough, but it’s generally well-surfaced and manageable. As you head anticlockwise around the island, keep an eye out for a small booth on the left-hand side. This is where you’ll need to pay a small entry fee: $2 NZD per person on foot or $5 NZD per car.

It’s a great stop if you’re looking for something different and relaxing during your stay. The cool, clear water and quiet surroundings make it a perfect break...

The waterfall, also known as Papua Waterfall, is the only waterfall on the island and is truly a hidden gem. The hike to the waterfall is beautiful, taking you through lush jungle and offering stunning views of the island.

Once you reach the waterfall, you'll find a picturesque swimming hole at the base of the falls. The water is refreshing and perfect for a swim after the hike. The area is peaceful and serene, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy nature.

The staff at the nearby accommodations and restaurants were friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. I highly recommend visiting Wigmore's Waterfall if you're in Rarotonga – it's a...

My wife and me wanted to enjoy the day at the waterfall. We went by walk and at the entrance a guy was telling us something I could not understand. Probably that now he introduced a fee for people walking as well and we were supposed to pay. I asked him to repeat what he said please and he instantly got incredibly unfriendly, started insulting me in front of my wife, to leave the place and to "go and f**k myself". I have absolutely no idea what was wrong with him but I can just strongly discourage anyone to do to this place unless you want to take your chances of getting randomly insulted during...

Went there firstly as part of the Raro Buggy Tour to take a dip and wash the mud off (some of it). Went back a couple of days later to have a better look. Walked up from main road as my rental car agreement does not permit driving up the road to the waterfall. Water is pleasant and deep enough for a good swim. Wear reef shoes to protect against the rocks. Only saw 1 mosquito there during our visit. Would not recommend swimming if buggy tour participants are in the water. The pool looks like a turgid broth.

I think this expedition or experience is under rated. This is because it's not developed properly. The road to waterfall are in pretty bad condition despite they are charging entry fee $2 for walker or biker and $5 for car or truck. Waterfall itself at amazing experience. Surrounded by amazing rain forest and there are couple of trails too if you want more fun. I will recommend this one but with caution

On the eastern edge of the abandoned Sheraton resort site, a road leads inland to Wigmore’s Waterfall, a lovely cascade dropping into a fresh, cool swimming pool. Note that in the dry season, the cascade can be more of a trickle. The south coast also has the island’s best beaches, with the best snorkelling to be found at Aro’a, Titikaveka and Tikioki.
