This was an incredible excursion. It was unlike others I have been on through other travels. It is a genuine part of the rainforest, not a conservation location where they bring animals in for rehabilitation or tourists. If you go on this trip, there is a possibility you may not see a lot of animals, but you will leave feeling more connected to the earth and the forest. Although the hike is on a “trail,” it is a moderate skill level hike, about 5 miles, so dress appropriately. The people we traveled with didn’t know the type of hike this was going to be and we’re underprepared. We wore waterproof hiking boots and socks and water-resistant clothing (Columbia brand) with bathing suits underneath for a dip in the waterfalls and springs. We packed Panchos in case it rained too. It was about a 2-hour drive up to the volcano, but it didn’t feel like it. Our driver, Julio, stopped at a village for us to get a snack and coffee on our way to the rainforest where his father grew up. I recommend learning some Spanish for this stop. He was terrific and shared stories of growing up in a similar small village. Our hiking tour guide, Joaquin, was incredibly knowledgeable of the forest and the species within it. He shared that his passion in life is to inspire hearts and minds to preserve more places like the rainforest. The animals we did get to see: a sleeping sloth, an eyelash and pit viper, various lizards, and pacas. The lunch back at the lodge was some of the best food we had on our trip. They brought coffee and incredible soursop juice. I recommend the Costa Rican-specific meal. Plan to arrive back at your location around 5/6pm. If you bring bug spray, they recommend all-natural. If you use DEET they ask you to try not to touch the plants or water. I brought Public Goods all-natural bug spray and it worked great. Overall, this excursion was one of our favorites. 💯

What an amazing experience!!!! This tour was the highlight of our trip to Guanacaste, which is saying a lot since all the tours and our stay was fantastic. This is a very fairly priced private tour through the rainforest, where you get to see the flora and fauna of Costa Rica. We got to swim in 2 beautiful, private waterfalls and in 4+ natural pools of water. The staff was very welcoming, providing us with a private tour guide, fruit snacks, a meal and a Costa Rican coffee + honey papaya dessert. During your lunch, they’ll play a 10min professionally made clip portraying all the animals that have been captured by motion sensored cameras around the property (in case you don’t get to see many animals during your hike)! We did the national park Volcán Rincón de la Vieja the day before, and this was a great experience too but in Sensoria we got to see more of the Costa Rican rainforest (even swim in the waterfalls!), whereas in the national park you get to see more of the dry forest. We enjoyed both and would do both again, but the Sensoria rainforest was a lot more striking.

A Hidden Gem in the Costa Rican Rainforest! Visiting Sensoria was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Tucked away in the lush rainforest near Rincón de la Vieja, this magical place offers an unforgettable blend of natural beauty, tranquility, and adventure. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff and immediately felt immersed in the pristine surroundings. The guided hike through the private reserve was incredible—our guide (Daniel) was knowledgeable, passionate about conservation, and pointed out wildlife and exotic plants we never would have noticed on our own. The waterfalls and natural thermal pools were absolutely breathtaking, and being able to swim in the crystal-clear waters was such a refreshing treat. Sensoria is beautifully maintained and feels like a sanctuary. If looking to unplug and reconnect with the Earth or if you just want to enjoy the lush rainforest this place is a must-visit. We left feeling inspired, rejuvenated, and grateful for the experience. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Guanacaste region!

I recently had the privilege of being guided by Pablo on an incredible excursion to Sensoria in Costa Rica. I am beyond impressed with his expertise, enthusiasm, and dedication to providing an unforgettable experience.

From the moment we met Pablo, his genuine passion for the environment and wildlife of Costa Rica was evident. He greeted my husband and I with a warm smile and an introduction that immediately put us at ease. Throughout the journey, Pablo's extensive knowledge of the region's ecology, plants, animals, and even local traditions enriched our adventure.

Pablo's ability to seamlessly blend education and excitement made the excursion exceptional. He effortlessly shared fascinating facts about the flora and fauna we encountered, making every step of the hike engaging and informative. His anecdotes about the local culture added a personal touch that made the experience feel authentic and meaningful.

One of the highlights of the excursion was Pablo's dedication to our safety and comfort. He ensured that the pace of the hike was suitable for everyone in the group. His attention to detail was evident in how he explained the terrain, provided guidance, and ensured we had all the necessary equipment.

Pablo's warmth and friendly demeanor created a comfortable atmosphere that encouraged group interactions. He encouraged questions and discussions, making us feel like a community of explorers eager to learn from his expertise.

The pinnacle of the journey was undoubtedly the breathtaking Sensoria’s rainforest. Pablo's excitement as we approached the Sensoria’s private rainforest was contagious, and his insights into its formation and significance added an extra layer of appreciation for the natural wonder before us.

In conclusion, Pablo's guidance made the Sensoria excursion a once-in-a-lifetime experience. His commitment to sharing his knowledge, fostering a sense of togetherness, and ensuring our safety made all the difference. If you're seeking an unforgettable journey through the stunning landscapes of Costa Rica led by a guide who embodies passion and expertise, I wholeheartedly recommend Pablo and the Sensoria team. Thank you for a remarkable adventure that will be...
