This is an often visited beach for us in this area - there's a 1,500 colone charge for parking, but the place is well kept, and very beautiful.

Recommend visiting during low (or lower) tide times of day, as it gives you a lot more beach to play on, and the caves are fun as well during low tide!

There's a parking attendant at the entrance, and relatively new/decent but basic washrooms available here.

Weekdays are a lot more enjoyable (read quiet) than weekends, but if you don't mind crowds, you will find more vendors present on the weekends if you like that sort of thing (mainly food).

Parking has never been an issue, nor has there been any problem with safety of any sort at this beach.

You have to cross a very small river (more a creek than anything) to access the beach. It might be a bit scary for some in a small rental car during rainy season, but it's not normally a big deal... and if you have an SUV or a truck, it's a...

Very nice beach. Not only for the geography and landscape, as there are actual cliffs both sides of the little bay with lots of green and nature, but also because you can see from the very inside the tico culture. They come with their families and actually cook (not snack)whilst in the beach, whatever is for lunch, rice, pork, salad, etc or the “Casado”. In winter, the sea has rip tides, lots of debree on the beach and sudden heavy cold rains. The sea, as it arrived to the shore, makes little shallow pots suitable for child. Did not see any surfers, may be because those heavy currents. There is a parking lot available. Trash points and baths also in the place. The “ventanas” are the mail attraction: two caves shaped by the water that...

WARNING: there are thieves on this beach- they will steal your bag from the beach in seconds and they will copy your car remote control code using a new device - once you lock your car- and then break into your car and take EVERYTHING.

It looks like a safe beach with payed parking but it is dangerous

The only way to protect your car in costa rica is to only lock it manually and never use the remote control. Also take whatever you can with you everywhere- and keep it on your back at all times, as they can steal it from you very quickly even if you put it by your side (one person will distract you then another one will take it).

This is very sad for me to write but this is the reality here and as I heard- in many other beaches...

Ventanas is Spanish for “windows”. The name of the beach is aptly named due to the two caves (or windows) that the water has naturally cut all the through the mountain that borders the north side of the beach. During high tide the BOOM of the water exploding out of the caves is eye opening. Far and away my favorite beach in Costa Rica. It’s amazing natural beauty with palm trees, at least two types of monkeys (that I’ve seen there) and the windows. During low tide a huge swimmable area and beach area for walking, photography, playing soccer or simply sunbathing. New amenities like bathrooms and snack food vendors are now available. Go during the week - very few people. The weekends are very busy.

The beach itself is beautiful and the caves fun. No big swell or currents so nice to swim (I've spent a full day here) and there's a stream that the kids loved. The main issue is that it's full of litter: plastic everywhere (bottles, one use plates, straws, etc), food remains, fire remains, dippers and I even found feces (I don't know if human or dog...). A real shame. I would recommend a visit but definitely not to spend the full day here, as the litter all around and the lack of shade close to the water make it uncomfortable. Just added the trash photos, there are plenty of comments showing how beautiful the beach is
