Highly recommend this! 🙋🏾‍♀️ We arrived during a drizzle 🌧️, and requested the 2 hour tour. The instructor put on her rain boots and a sweater and was ready to go. We ended up enjoying a 3.5 hour lesson about medicinal plants 🌱, animal rescues, historical art conservation efforts by the museum, chocolate and vanilla harvesting, chocolate creation 🍫, and the indigenous people of the area. The museum is gorgeous, with lush greens and beautiful and fragrant flowers (like Ylang ylang). You also get the chance to taste plants and herbs grown on the grounds, including cilantro, basil, cocoa fruit, bananus 🍌, and some local fruit (which I forgot the name of, but they were delicious 🤤). We saw and heard a community of howler monkeys 🐒 in the trees near the shaman edifice. They make REAL chocolate for you, and explain to you the characteristics of real chocolate made with it's natural cocoa butter versus chocolate made with palm oil 👎🏾. The chocolate they make is SOOOOO good, and they give you enough to sample individually with fresh nutmeg, bananus, chili pepper 🌶️, cinnamon stick, and lime juice. The instructor also spoke about people's responsibility to project and respect the earth, and the Earth's 🌎 innate ability to heal us if we stay close to it (tend it and avoid unnatural products), and how we're all members of a single large family. Loved every...

I recently had the pleasure of taking a family tour of the 5 star Cacao Trails - Museo de Cacao with the excellent guide, Fred. Fred was an amazing guide, and provided an excellent explanation of the entire process from the harvesting of the cacao beans to their eventual transformation into the delicious chocolate we all know and love. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was eager to answer any questions we had. The Cacao Trails tour was a truly unique experience. We had the opportunity to explore the museum and learn about the history of the Cacao bean and the process it goes through to become chocolate. We also got to try some freshly made chocolate and sample some of the different types of chocolates they had available. The highlight of the tour was a firsthand look at the process of making the chocolate. It was amazing to see the chocolate being made and to get a better understanding of all the work that goes into making it, we loved the fact you were able to taste the finished product. Overall, I highly recommend the Cacao Trails tour for anyone looking for a unique and educational experience, Fred was an excellent guide and was able to provide valuable information about the entire process.

We had a great time and certainly gained a newfound appreciation for the delicious chocolate we all love so much,...

I recently embarked on a delightful chocolate tour on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, and it was a truly immersive experience! Our multi lingual tour guide Daniel was amazing. From the moment we arrived, the lush landscapes and vibrant flora set the stage for our adventure. Our knowledgeable guide took us through the entire chocolate-making process, starting from the cacao bean's origins to the final delicious product.

The highlight was tasting the fresh cacao fruit—its unique sweetness was a revelation! We learned about sustainable farming practices and the importance of supporting local communities. The hands-on workshops allowed us to craft our own chocolate, which was both fun and educational.

Each segment of the tour was engaging, filled with fascinating facts about the history of chocolate in Costa Rica and its cultural significance. The flavors we experienced were unparalleled,

The tour concluded with a delightful tasting session, where we savored the chocolate that was presented on a tree leaf and we were given different flavors to try such as salt, cinnamon, hot pepper, turmeric and ginger. I left with a newfound appreciation for this beloved treat and some of the chocolates to take home. Overall, this tour is a must for any chocolate lover...
