This was the best day trip I have ever done! It was done so well and so much fun. We wanted a trip that included the waterfall hike, tubing, and ziplining with transport from and to Tamarindo but I did not see one available. I was able to contact the company through the help chat and Camila was very helpful in organizing everything we needed. The process was easy and the price was much better than tour operators in Tamarindo and La Leona offered more options. Everything was perfect and so efficient. We were picked up on time, driven right to the zipline and geared up immediately. There was no wait time. Our guides Francisco and Douglas was incredible. Francisco spoke English very well and both guides were very attentive. Francisco took so many pictures of us including action shots and group photos. It was like having a photographer with us the whole time. And he did this at no extra charge. We had two small children who were scared of the ziplining and the tubing and Francisco and Douglas stayed with them the whole time ensuring that they felt safe and had fun. The ziplining was very fun and beautiful. It was over a river gorge. The waterfall hike was one of the best short hikes I have ever been on. It was beautiful and fun for the adults and all the kids who would normally complain about hiking. There were river crossings, rock climbing, ladders, and points where we had to swim. There was also a natural waterslide and a small cliff jump. The waterfall is inside a narrow canyon that feels almost like a cave. Even though it was very adventurous, the guides and the gear they gave us ensured we were safe. Right after that, they took us to lunch at the same lodge where we did the ziplining. The food was delicious and plentiful. Immediately after that, we went tubing. We had 10 guides help us along the way. They would station themselves ahead of us to ensure we were safe. The tubing was so fun. There were so many rapids. Again, the Francisco and Douglas kept the small children with them. This was a day packed with adventure. The tour is so well run and efficient. Our guides Fransisco and Douglas went above and beyond. This was honestly the best day tour I...

This was an AMAZING experience.

We did the hike and river tubing and I couldn’t be happier. Everyone was friendly and positive, from the moment we arrived and checked in until we showered/changed and left.

The hike itself was legit. Our guide was excellent, giving interesting information but just as importantly, keeping everyone together and safe. We did a group tour and Juan made sure everyone was accounted for and safe/able without being obvious (we have a six year old that kept up well but has shorter legs than everyone else). The waterfall itself was BEAUTIFUL and well worth the hike. Be ready! I especially noted that our guide gave very easy to follow instructions to ensure we weren’t on top of each other trying to get into the cave (a group before us had very clearly NOT done what we were told to do and piled up while someone really struggled to get in and up to the fall itself—looked a little dangerous and could have been prevented, plus likely a little embarrassing for the hiker). We got a chance to jump off into the river in a few spots and my kiddos enjoyed it thoroughly.

The river tubing was also a great experience. Ian was our main man but we each had a guide as the river was low and the rocks were abundant. They worked hard to keep our crew safe and flowing and were so fun and positive the whole way. The pictures were very affordable, quality, and so fun to have. I wouldn’t have wanted to take my phone (wet bag would have kept it dry but not usable) and around my neck I would have feared could have come off somehow (those rapids were real). I should also also left my sunglasses—we were on the river about 3 pm and totally not needed at all.

Definite 5 stars. We’ve been in CR for about two months and this might have been one of my favorite things...

We had an amazing experience hiking to La Leona Waterfall as a group of five, including three kids aged 11, 10, and 4 — and we couldn’t be more impressed with the tour and our guides, Brandon and Wilbur.

From start to finish, Brandon and Wilbur were outstanding. They were incredibly friendly, professional, and especially attentive to our kids, making sure they felt safe, supported, and engaged throughout the adventure. Our youngest, who is 4 years old, needed a bit more help during the more challenging parts of the hike, and both guides went out of their way to assist and encourage her. They periodically check on the kids to see if they need to take a break and offered snacks they brought with them. Their patience and friendliness really made the experience enjoyable and stress-free for us as parents.

The hike itself was absolutely beautiful — a mix of jungle, river crossings, and stunning scenery, culminating in the breathtaking La Leona Waterfall. It was the perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty, and our kids haven’t stopped talking about it since!

We highly recommend this company, especially if you’re traveling with children. Brandon and Wilbur are top-notch guides who clearly love what they do and make sure everyone in the group feels included and taken care of. We can not thank them enough for making this waterfall hiking the highlight of our family trip in Costa Rica. A must-do if you’re...

Vladimir and Andrey were excellent guides and I can't recommend this company and experience enough. Both were very funny and friendly, and were experts at helping us to navigate terrain that can be a challenge with all the slippery rocks and rushing water. They kept a perfect pace so we weren't rushed, and shared some really great knowledge about the river, local animals, plants and all the nature surrounding us at each stop. I filled out the contact form on their website to ask about registering as a solo traveler and very quickly got an email response and all of my emails and questions were answered very quickly. They were able to get me on a group tour two days out, and paying online was very easy. If you like to hike and swim and enjoy being in nature, this trip is a must do experience. Swimming through a beautiful river on the way to a waterfall in a cave is as incredible as it sounds. The trail itself is well maintained with ladders and ropes to help you climb, but bring sturdy water shoes with good grip. The distance of the hike was perfect to leave me feeling completely satisfied, but not so worn out that I couldn't do anything else with the rest of the day. The value of this trip seems impossible to beat with all the other high priced tours and activities you can find in CR. I don't generally enjoy guided group tours or activities, but I wouldn't hesitate to do one with these guys again.

Pros: Guides were very friendly and helpful. The waterfall itself was pretty and the hiking experience interesting. Cons: So why 3 stars? It’s a combination of a few things: some of which may be company specific, and others which are nature of the guided tour to this waterfall. For group tours (my mistake), you are stuck in a pack of 10-15 people, so it is painfully slow going. We also waited 30 minutes past our tour time to even start because there were so many in our group and the transport to trailhead could not hold enough. I’d recommend paying the extra 15/person to have your own guide and set your own pace. They required everyone to wear a life jacket. I did not see this requirement on their website (in fact, it states life jackets provided for those who need it). This was lame. Other hikers (presumably with other guides/companies) were not wearing life jackets. I would have used different company if I knew about their policy. They skipped the second waterfall that you see on YouTube videos for this hike. No explanation why. I asked but guide got distracted and never responded. In summary, a fun experience and beautiful waterfall but the group guided tour nature of this hike (even if you’re not in the tour…there probably will be one nearby) is a negative….and the life jacket requirement and skipping 2nd (smaller) waterfall was also a negative.

We booked the private waterfall hike and white water tubing tour online. The location was easy to find and they provided a safe place to park. We drove from the Upala (Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio) area and it took us about 1 1/12 hours. We left our belongings in the car with no issues. You take a truck ride to the hike spot and they do provide a dry bag for your belongings. Jonathon was our guide, he was great! Make sure you bring tip money! :) The tubing was fun, but it was the lowest time of year for rapids, so it was more relaxed. The views were pretty as we floated down the river. The water was clear and felt nice. The hike was awesome! We went on a Sunday, so it was kind of busy with lots of people. Our tour guide was a little strict, but very friendly! We had such a great time and he showed us lots of little spots along the hike like a water slide on the rocks. The hike itself is not too challenging if you are in shape. I would not recommend it if you have knee injuries. It is a lot of walking, some ladder climbing, lots of rocks, and crossing some water. The waterfall is stunning! It was really nice swimming where the waterfall was. We saw a family of white-face monkey's in a tree by the river on our way back and a large Iguana by the water. Overall, a great experience. I highly recommend doing this tour.
