Loved this hike and waterfall experience. It was a total adventure!!! Wear water shoes or shoes you won’t mind getting wet! The guides strongly recommended we keep our sneakers on (no to our slides and crocs). We saw two owls on a rocky cliff, furry bats, and there was a badger that leapt across the canyon above the waterfall. All the guides were excited by that!! You cross a river a few times. Then as you near the waterfall, there are about 3 spots where the water is too deep to walk across - there are ropes with knots that you utilize to pull yourself from point A to B. Lots of tourists the day we visited- I image that’s hit or miss. We got a ride (paid $160 U.S. for that) to a spot where we were then charged $30 per person to be driven in an old 4 wheel drive SUV with mostly non working windows and no AC. The driver was friendly. He drove us to a Ranch where we signed a waiver, were offered life jackets and were paired with a guide- he was quick on his feet and knowledgeable. Our guide had a dry bag which I noticed all the guides carried one. He kept our cell phones and gave them back for pictures and also took our pictures when we got to the waterfall!!! We got there in early afternoon and spent about 2.5 hours hiking & enjoying the waterfall. It was about 30-45 mins to hike to La Leona and seemed like only 30 mins to get back to the ranch. My friend and I enjoyed it very much!!! Beautiful sunny day, lovely hike and amazing waterfall and rock walls, cliffs and canyons! No issues with bugs (didn’t see one mosquito). The water was refreshing- not freezing although we noticed some folks shivering. Remember to bring water to stay hydrated & tip money. There is a restaurant and restrooms at the ranch. At the end of our tour to La Leona the we waited a short time for our driver to arrive to bring us back to the car (we brought our driver with us he enjoyed the adventure as...

I booked online through Nervin and everything about the experience was smooth and painless. My family of 6 needed transportation from Tamarindo to the site and he arranged that for us through an outside company, and our driver Christopher was wonderful. He picked us up exactly on time and delivered us right on time for our tour and our guide Nervin met us upon arrival. Nervin led our private tour through the trails to the falls and took care to point out a lot of interesting features and explain things along the way. One of our concerns was our family group was made up of several age groups with two "older folks" so we were a bit concerned about the hike and Nervin made sure to adjust to pace and keep an eye on our group so we weren't pushing too hard. We had done this tour about 3 years earlier through a "pirate tour operator" and it seemed like a forced march with some uncertainty if we were all going to make it to the end. Thanks to Nervin we had an enjoyable hike in and out and everyone loved to excursion. He had mentioned about the availability of purchasing lunch at the soda at the end of our trip if we wanted, and we signed on for that and he informed the ladies of that, and our meal was waiting for us when we arrive back within a couple of minute for a very reasonable price. Nervin was great guide and made sure we had a...

We had an amazing time on our Rainforest tour with Nervin! He was incredibly consultative and flexible leading up to our trip, making sure the tour would accommodate our needs. He first took us to a coffee/cacao plantation which was interactive and fun to learn about these important exports. Next we went on a tour of a private park where we sampled various fruits and saw insects, snakes, frogs, anteaters, and above all… A THREE TOED SLOTH! Nervin was extremely knowledgeable of all the plants, insects, and animals and their relationships with each other. It was so fun exploring the rainforest with Nervin! We stopped for a typical Costa Rican lunch and butterfly garden which was lovely and finished the tour with a trip to Llanos de Cortes, a beautiful waterfall just a quick walk away from the parking lot. Shout out to our trusty transportation, Norman, who made sure we got around safely and in style! I highly recommend this tour when you are...

We connected with Nervin Zamora through WhatsApp and he was available the next day to be our guide for the La Leona Waterfall adventure. Not only that, but he also arranged transportation from Playa Brasilito to La Leona as well as secured spots for the Colorado River Adventure Tubing for us. Our time with him was full of information and fun. The hike was challenging at times, but Nervin was always watching to make sure we stepped in the right place, held the rope when we needed to and felt safe and comfortable. He carried a dry pack for our glasses and phones and took great pics & vids of us which he later sent. I would totally recommend this hike with him, and actually found out a friend from NJ had hiked with him back in April and agreed she had a blast! 2 days later, Nervin was also happy to recommend a friend with an ATV tour for us. He's a great resource in CR.
