We were staying at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín and decided to make Oropendola Waterfall our last stop after a day full of adventures (Sunday, June 1, 2025). We arrived just before closing and even debated skipping the trail — but we’re so glad we didn’t! The walk was only about 10 minutes from the parking area, and we had the entire place to ourselves. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful, and the trail was very well maintained — the rope and step bridges made it a fun and unique experience. The guard at the platform was super friendly and even offered to take photos of us. Swimming under the waterfall was incredibly peaceful and refreshing. It's definitely well worth the stop if you’re in the area!

Truly breathtaking. We got to see this beautiful waterfall as part of an excursion from Dreams Las Mareas resort. Excursion included transportation, travel to waterfall, mud bath, natural hot springs, and lunch from Hacienda Restaurant. The food was exceptional, traditional Costa Rican buffet. The waterfall beyond exceeded our expectations, unforgettable experience. The water glowed and changed colors due to the natural minerals. We learned that the waterfall & this rainforest sit on private property, so clearly they charge admission. You can stay at their hotel & get free access to the waterfall & more. We’re planning on staying there the next time

Catarata Oropéndola was the highlight of my trip! The walk to the waterfall took about 21 minutes—very manageable and totally worth it. We purchased our tickets online and didn’t need a guide, making the experience super easy. We arrived around 3 PM and had the entire waterfall to ourselves for most of the time. The cold water was refreshing, and my boyfriend and I enjoyed every second of it. A few people showed up briefly but left quickly, so we were able to soak in the beauty of the place for a full two hours. If you’re visiting the area, this waterfall is an absolute must-see!
