Carlos is an exceptional guide who takes his work seriously. He is committed to helping visitors get the most out of their vacations to Costa Rica.

We spent a week doing daily tours with either Carlos or someone Carlos recommended and booked for us. As I was planning the trip for 8 family members to celebrate my husband's 40th, I was grateful that Carlos took all the stress out of planning. I was able to communicate with him through Whatsapp and did not need to reach out to anyone else for booking or take time to research any other company. It saved me so much time and my entire group absolutely loved our itinerary. For any tours Carlos did not provide he recommended and scheduled very reputable, safe, reliable companies and even checked in with us daily to make sure all was going smoothly.

We were blown away by all we saw during the combo tour. It was a great mix of activities done in a day with a great lunch in the middle. On our bird watching tour we saw 40 species of birds, which Carlos was able to identify instantly and show us through his high powered scope. He was able to take some really sharp, clear pics for us using our phones and his scope. His experience also helped instantly identify birds through their calls, like when he heard a keel-billed toucan, which was a crowd favorite.

Carlos had extensive knowledge on most topics we asked him about, and he was able to speak in depth about native animals, government, technology, history and everything in between. He taught us a great deal. We had 2 young kids in our group (5&7) and he made sure they were always included and engaged. The kids learned so much from him.

I highly recommend Carlos for his professionalism, knowledge, experience as a guide of 20 years, and the help he provided our family from booking other tours, to recommending places to eat. He truly made our trip to Costa Rica magical and unforgettable. Thank you so much Carlos, this is a trip we will never...

Carlos was an amazing tour guide! From the moment we opened the gate at Casa Bella Luna and saw Carlos step out of his shiny new passenger van with that exuberant smile, our family of seven knew we were in good hands. His English was impeccable, and he was an outstanding active listener and responded enthusiastically to all our questions. He easily melded into our group and became “one of us,” though he was clearly the one that had all the knowledge and background of everything “Costa Rica.” I could only imagine what we would have missed if we had not gone on the tours with Carlos! During our tour of the rain forest and Arenal Hanging Bridges, Carlos easily pointed out numerous birds, snakes and spiders that would have easily gone undetected to us, but incredibly his knowledge didn’t end there as his vast knowledge of the ecosystems and animal/ insects” habitats astonished me. I particularly enjoyed his detailed explanation on the cycle of the fig. Equally important, given I was the grandma in our group, Carlos was very attentive and considerate of my wellbeing as we climbed the steps and rougher terrain to view Arenal Volcano, traversed the 500 steps down to La Fortuna Waterfall, and followed the winding trails through the Sloth Park. Carlos’ high powered spotting scope enabled us to take hundreds of photos and videos of birds and sloths high in the trees, though we easily captured the ground critters such as frogs and ants. In closing, Carlos made this a trip of a lifetime as he made our transportation routes to each location a unique tour e.g. pulling alongside the road to view toucans, sloths, or other native creatures, guided us on multiple tours, setup activities that included guides such as the coffee/chocolate tour, ATV rides into the countryside and zip lining as well as those that didn’t (hot water pools). Carlos even treated us to a Costa Rican lunch that...

Our experience with Carlos in Costa Rica was absolutely incredible! His enthusiasm and deep knowledge of the natural world made every moment of our trip unforgettable. From the start, he prioritized our safety and comfort, which was especially reassuring as a group of women traveling with a male guide.

Carlos is not only a fantastic driver but also an expert at spotting wildlife. On our three-park tour, we saw sloths, birds (including the largest parakeet in Costa Rica), monkeys, snakes, and more. His ability to identify animals just by their sounds was remarkable, and he always made sure we had the best views. His high-quality scope allowed us to see intricate details and capture incredible photos and videos that we would have never gotten on our own.

Beyond the tour itself, Carlos took us to incredible local restaurants with authentic, fresh, and delicious food. He was always accommodating when we had questions or wanted to make additional stops, making the entire experience feel personalized and seamless.

Some people might think they can explore on their own, but having Carlos as our guide made all the difference. Even compared to other guides in the parks, Carlos stood out—he consistently found wildlife first and was even helping others spot animals. His passion and expertise were truly unmatched.

If you’re visiting Costa Rica, booking Carlos as your guide is an absolute must! He goes above and beyond to create an extraordinary experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a...

We spent 10 days in Costa Rica, 3 of them in La Fortuna. The day we spent with Carlos was a highlight of our trip. Our group was me, my husband, my 26 yo son and 20 yo daughter. He might not be the cheapest guide you’ll find but he’s worth every penny. He found wildlife at Mystico Bridges that other guides were walking by without noticing. He took amazing photos for is with his scope. We learned sooooo much from him!! Second stop was the La Fortuna waterfall. Amazing. Then an amazing lunch at a local typical restaurant- one of our best meals. 3rd stop was el silencio trail hike. It started raining but that didn’t ruin our day. He also went out of his way to see sloths and snakes! If youre thinking of booking with Carlos, dont hesitate- his fee includes pick up and drop off in his new beautiful van, admission to the parks and lunch. 100% recommend!

We are so grateful to have hired Carlos as a tour guide while visiting La Fortuna. He was recommended to us by a friend and we can see why. He is a wealth of knowledge to say the least and has a keen eye for catching all the unique flora and fauna we were lucky enough to see. We would have missed most, if not all of it without him. His scope is extra special as well, (far better than our binoculars) and the tripod allowed us to get incredible pictures and videos that we never could have caught on our own. Our excursions were without a doubt enhanced by his accompaniment. Not only was he a wonderful tour guide for the tours he took us on but he also booked other excursions for us that we were interested in, making our visit easy and seamless. We 100% recommend hiring Carlos at Costa Rica Rent A guide as your tour guide!
