Sky Adventures is the way to go for the most wonderful zip line experience in La Fortuna/Arenal. We booked directly through the website as it was cheaper, more seamless, and there are often promotions for additional discounts. The online reservation process is easy. We booked a full experience – the hanging bridges hike, use of the tram to get to the zip lines, the zip lines themselves, and lunch after. The transportation to pick you up at your hotel is seamless and there are clear instructions on where to meet and at what time. And plenty of time if you run late/early, etc. What to bring? Bug spray, sunscreen, and would do long pants that breath so you don’t deal with the harness chafing. Plus, it helped when we did the 1-2 km hike as well through the cloud forest to ward off bites and whatnot. If you’ve got a GoPro, bring it – they have mounts on helmets already so come loaded with those, an extra battery, and make sure you have zippered pockets in case you bring your phone. They have free lockers to stow you belongings but it’s nice to have your phone to take pics/videos of your family/friends. First – the hanging bridges hike is awesome. It’s short, and full of flora/fauna. The guides are outstanding and you learn a ton while seeing a ton. We saw snakes, monkeys, peccaries, endless birds, spiders, leaf cutter ants and numerous cool trees and plants. The hike itself is minimal effort but you get a good workout as it’s a 2 hour circle. The views are breathtaking and it really is a great and easy experience with wonderful guides. Second – the zip lines. 7 in total – the first and last being “short ones” and the middle ones being insane. These will be the best you’ve done – high speed, panoramic views of the lake, volcano, clouds, and trees and depending on the conditions you may see everything or go through a dense cloud. Regardless it’s amazing. PAY ATTENTION TO THE SAFETY LECTURE! Instructions on how to stop with your hands, keeping your feed up, and spreading them to stop get lost when you go 50 mph and forget – and you don’t want to brake early if you’re not told to because you can stop before the end – and the overhand pull yourself to the end is a bit of sweaty workout. Lunch is awesome and simple – delicious food – burgers, pasta, bar, you name it. Easy menu if pre-paid, broader if you get it there. Win win. Get the professional pics – worth it. Tip the guides for sure. Great staff, great guides, seamless planning and 110% you’ve GOTTA do it when in...
Read more5 star operation all around!
I booked directly on the website. They offer hotel pickup for $22 each. We paid $251 for 2 with pickup. Very smooth operation. We were picked up on time. The whole operation from start to finish was a well oiled machine. There are a lot of employees. Very well trained. Every employee from shuttle drivers, sheperds, zipline tour guides, etc, all top notch. One employee told me there are the oldest run zipline in the area, and the years of experience is very evident. I was terrified, but it was fun once I got the hang of it. They operate in the rain. Wear a windbreaker. Better yet, a windbreaker rain jacket in case it rains. If it starts to rain and you are at the top, the only way to get down is to zipline in the rain. wear shoes that will not come off (no flip flops) and do not bring anything with you. There is a locker in case you do. If you drop anything, you will never get it back. they offer a go pro on the helmet. You are not obligated to buy the video, and can preview it at the end before you buy. We bought it and it was totally worth it. They send you a link and you can download your video immediately. We also bought the photos. Video & photo was $70.
We chose 11:30am timeslot and were picked up at 10:45am. The experience was 11:30am-1:20pm. We ate lunch at the Chillout restaurant there, and highly recommend it. The views are incredible and the food is pretty good. We paid $54 for lunch for 2. They have shuttles every hour, so took the 3:15pm shuttle back.
The views of the volcano and lake and rainforest as you are ziplining are incredible.
I contacted them prior to our visit with questions and they were so responsive! Very impressed!
It was a great experience. A must do when...

Sky Adventures was an incredible experience, from the speedy zip lines to the breath taking views from the aerial bridges.
We started off our experience with nature walk with our guide Ronaldo. He was incredible and we wouldn’t have been able to see any wildlife without him—he had a special scope which allowed him to take high-quality pictures of all sorts of creatures. During our two hour trek, we saw lots of interesting insects and spiders (one tarantula), huge rodents, snakes, and we almost spotted some monkeys (maybe next time we’ll catch some). The jungle was pretty empty and the trail was unpaved, which made it feel more authentic. There were a few fascinating information signs along the way and I found the length and difficulty of the trail to be satisfying. There is one modest bathroom at the top of the trail, two large aerial bridges, and one viewpoint on an extended platform.
When we finished our hike, it took us about thirty minutes to go from signing waivers to boarding the gondola. The staff were all very friendly and chatty and the system was managed well—not overly packed or overstimulating (no obnoxious music!). We boarded the gondola which took us to the top and from there we went straight to a practice zip line and then the real deal. The zip lines are very impressive and are super tall up. It can be a little nerve wracking at first but it isn’t scary at all and the views are worth it.
After, we had a satisfying lunch with incredible views of the lake and mountains (and very good milkshakes). The quesadillas are flavorful and very meaty. I would definitely come back here and would recommend this to anyone seeking some thrills with...
