As a herp nerd, i prefer to see my critters in the wild. This place has a unique setup. They basically create the perfect environment for the various frogs for living and breeding and let them run and live free. It's a great setup for photographers and since all tours are guided, they'll take you right to known areas and move frogs they find to a better location for you to photograph. Besides frogs, we also found bats, various butterflies and insects. Our tour guide, the female owner, could not have been nicer. Once we got done (about an hour) we sat down with her and she gave us some star fruit juice ( very good). Price of entry was a bit steep at $25 per person but it goes to a good cause and good folks. Bring your camera with a flash and there's ops to get some great shots. Highly...

We organized a tour ahead of time and enjoyed a rainy slog through the woods 😂 Our guide spoke little English, but his ability to locate and catch absolutely tiny frogs was unprecedented. I've never seen anything like this. Armed only with an ancient red plastic flashlight, he'd wade through waist-high grass and come out minutes (sometimes many minutes) later wielding an inch long frog that would probably be more interesting to herpetologists than me 😅 Really cool none-the-less, if only to witness the stellar performance. A guide on a separate walk later in our trip told us "I hear a 'Ding Frog'. You can never see those though, too hard to find." Well guess who'd already found us a Ding...

When you really want to learn something about the nature, the animals like snakes, frogs, birds and many more and also like plants, herbs and good photos you need to visit the tour like I did with Herbert. Not only they have the greatest guid I’ve ever met, no they are also very into the well-being of their “little“ education garden including the animals and it’s just beautiful to see that not all places have to be overflowed and only focused on cash. So when you really want a good time with very lovely and nice people AND also want to learn many many things about the environment and wildlife in Costa Rica, you definitely need to stop here and take a look...

A great, educational tour that was worth the drive and price! I visited on a Saturday and there was no wait. Herberth was a fantastic guide! He speaks English, Spanish, and his native language and was sensitive to my intermediate Spanish. He spoke slowly so I could practice and gave context in English when I needed it. I saw numerous animals including various frogs, a sloth, porcupines, bats, and snakes that they’ve rescued that are in rehabilitation until they are released into the wild. The snakes were contained and the other animals were wild. 10/10 recommend!

Nice garden and very friendly tour guide. They set up the garden so that many frogs, lizards, bats, birds and other animals find a ideal environment, they live free and the tour guide will point them out for you and help you with the light for the perfect photograph. Very cool if you can bring your macro and tele lenses! The tour price was 30$ per person (Jan/2025) and it was a little over an hour long. We saw 3 species of frogs, 2 species of bats, a Jesus Lizard and an Iguana, a Baby Porcupine, Sloth with Baby and a sleeping Oppossum in a hollow treetrunk!
