We made a last minute decision to stay at Hacienda Orosi on our way back to the airport in San Jose. Had we known how amazing it was going to be, we would have gone earlier and stayed more nights. The staff was all very friendly and Adrian at the front desk spoke English very well and was so kind and helpful. He even showed up at the desk at 6am so we could check out and get to the airport. Thank you Adrian! The hotsprings were incredible and offered a fantastic view of the valley below. Our favorite hotsprings pool was at the Coffee Pickers Village. We had the whole thing to ourselves and could lounge peacefully watching the animals in the farm below. The free mud skin treatments were an added bonus that we all enjoyed. The restaurant atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing and the food was delicious. The coffee tour hike was fun. And our house in the Coffee Pickers Village was fantastic. So many incredible details throughout the house that someone put a lot of time and effort into. The kitchen was stocked with drinks, snacks and coffee from the farm. There were signs everywhere in both English and Spanish that were helpful in navigating the property and learning about the history of coffee as well as all the animals. The farm was our favorite part. The animals are well cared for; they appeared very happy and healthy. The facilities at the farm were very clean and well built. There are even fun tractor themed playgrounds and a restaurant. My kids and I showed up at 2pm for the animal feeding, and although Oscar the animal handler didn't speak english, he was incredibly kind, helpful and communicated with us very well. We fed and pet all the animals. He made the experience so much fun for my kids. Thank you Oscar! Although we didn't have time to participate, there were lots of other activities offered such as face painting, balloon animals and crafts for the kids, collecting your own eggs for breakfast and helping harvest in the garden. We were continually amazed by the cleanliness, organization and beauty of the entire place. Next time we visit Costa Rica, we will be staying at Hacienda...
Read moreThis place is a golden gem a bit off the beaten path. We visited the day before our departure from CR and we couldnt have chosen a better relaxing, indulgent experience to end our trip. There are 5 pools to experience all slightly different temps and none too hot to lounge in. We had a stellar experience the day we arrived and for most of our day there, we were the only ones present!! I couldnt believe our luck. Additionally, we lucked upon the arrival of the new owner, Edgar, who was remarkably personable and interactive. He even took us on a private tour of the Victorian home on the property and showed us the room that George Clooney stayed in. All the staff were incredibly gracious and attentive and we felt like royalty for a day!! The waters are Mineral water vs. volcanic and are potable! The infinity springs that look out over the valley of Orosi, are stunning! By the way, the Springs have been completed renewed and updated and the facilities are posh and comfortable. There is a full service restaurant, which was average but with a great selection. The only other feedback I would give is to pump the thermal water into the showers in the bathrooms. A bit surprising but a small "sacrifice" considering the decadent experience of the Springs! Well worth the visit!! Dont pass up the opportunity to visit upon your arrival or departure to the SJO Airport!! We will most...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite experiences in Costa Rica. I hiked the 5k coffee tour up and down the mountain with my husband, four-year-old son, and my parents. The climb was a bit steep in a few places and requires some attention to avoid slipping. But we were all able to finish the hike. We did find that using a walking stick made things quite a bit easier.
There are scenic spots, interactive sculptures, and a waterfall (near the end). There are VERY nice outhouses, water stations, and benches placed thoughtfully throughout the trail.
The food is phenomenal. It is made to order and so tasty.
The farm has a collection of farm animals from around the world (cows, bulls, donkeys, sheep, goats, chicken, pheasant, peacock, rabbits, emu, pigs, geese). Some of the animals will come up for pets. There are also interactive sidewalk designs and climbing structures.
The mineral springs are lovely. They have a handful of different temperatures available (85, 95, 98, 99, 100F). They provide mud for a mineral mask and guests can rinse off under a decorative waterfall that comes out of one of the warmer pools.
Complementary towels and lockers are provided with admission.
We were based out of San Jose for the week, so we did not stay in the rooms, but we are seriously considering it for...
