I absolutely love this beautiful waterfall nestled back in the rainforest. It's relatively easy to get to, and you can do so with 2WD. 4WD is best. This year google maps had us go a different route at the entrance which was unnecessary (wrapped back around) and not good for 2WD as you are taken across a river and a beyong sketchy bridge. Not needed! Stay to the LEFT and you will be rerouted. The drive is somewhat long but well with it. Stay the course. Once you arrive, park along the side of the road and walk down the short path. You've made it. Bring water shoes, swimsuit, towel, goggles and perfect for a picnic. Explore, swim, relax, look underwater and see all the tilapia swimming around. Very magical place! WARNING I do not support jumping from the cliff into the pool. It's very dangerous and a fast way to ruin your vacation. Medical assistance is nowhere near this location and no...

This is a wonderful waterfall that is owned by a great and friendly family.

To access it, I’d recommend you park up about 50 meters from the entry point at the tilapia restaurant- you should eat there afterwards or at least of an Imperial cerveza.

Cascada El Pavon is swimmable during the dry season - December through March typically. During this visit it was possible to swim through the first cascade and hang out in the space behind the falls. There was actually a second waterfall behind the first.

During the rainy season it is impossible and dangerous to enter the water.

Cost of entry; FREE

Must be able to walk down rock steps of you want to go in the water. However it is a flat and short pathway from the road and for less mobile guests, great photos can be taken without clinging...

We went there the next day after a huge terrestrial downpour, and the waterfall was a monster! I understand why people are saying no swimming in the rain season - the forces of the water and the current were very strong.

You don't need a 4x4 to get there. I wouldn't take a Lambo or a 911 there, but any family sedan will do fine. People who say you need a 4x4 have very little idea of what is off-road. The road is actually paved, it is just paved in stone, so it is a bit rough.

The waterfall is not the largest, so it is cool to visit if you are going in that direction, but I doubt it is worth driving for more than an...
